Today begins the 2025 SPT Competency Assessment Test of Hanoi National University of Education.

This morning, candidates were present at the examination sites to listen to the regulations. In the afternoon, candidates began taking the exams in shifts. The first two subjects of the exam were Literature and English.

According to information from the Steering Committee of the 2025 SPT Exam of Hanoi National University of Education, nearly 17,500 candidates have registered to take the exam.

These are high school 12th graders or high school graduates (or equivalent) who want to take the Competency Assessment test to use the results in university admissions in 2025. Statistics show that this year, on average, each candidate registered for 3.1 exams. Up to this point, 26 highereducation institutions have used the 2025 SPT results for admissions purposes.

The 2025 SPT exam will take place on May 17 and 18 in 4 cities: Hanoi, Vinh, Da Nang , Quy Nhon with testing locations at: Hanoi Pedagogical University 7,585 candidates; University of Commerce 2,028 candidates; University of Industry 2,981 candidates; Academy of Journalism and Propaganda 1,985 candidates; Vinh University 1,641 candidates; Quy Nhon University 584 candidates; University of Education (Da Nang University) 635 candidates.

SPT Competency Assessment Exam Schedule 2025.

The SPT Competency Assessment Test was first organized by Hanoi National University of Education in 2022, with the orientation of assessing the actual capacity of candidates through a standardized test system, closely following the 2018 general education program.

The exam is designed according to an integrated model of objective and essay tests, focusing on students' thinking, analysis and problem-solving abilities. The subjects include: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History and Geography. The school plans to add the following subjects to the exam by 2026: Economic and Legal Education, Information Technology and Technology.

Over the years, SPT has attracted an increasing number of candidates and has been recognized by many higher education institutions, using the results in regular admissions. In 2022, the first time the exam was held, more than 2,300 candidates registered; by 2024, this number had increased nearly fivefold, with more than 11,500 candidates. This year, nearly 17,500 candidates registered for the exam.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Duc Son, Rector of Hanoi National University of Education, the SPT exam opens up more opportunities for candidates in the university admission process. Over many years of organization, the exam has proven its effectiveness in the selection of input, contributing to ensuring the quality of training at higher education institutions. Hanoi National University of Education hopes that universities and colleges will continue to implement this exam consistently, creating maximum convenience for both candidates and schools using the results in admission.

It is expected that the exam results of candidates participating in the 2025 SPT will be announced before June 15.
