More than 100 works participated in the Bonsai Competition and Exhibition at Hung Temple, Can Tho in 2025

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee, along with leaders of city and local departments, branches, etc. attended the opening ceremony of the event.

There are more than 100 works entered into the competition and exhibition; with a variety of bonsai genres. Contestants are individuals, organizations, artisans, cooperatives, cooperative groups, clubs, and businesses that grow and trade bonsai. Bonsai types entered into the competition are divided into 5 groups: miniature bonsai, large bonsai, medium bonsai, small bonsai, and mini bonsai. The works are scored based on the criteria of "ancient - beautiful - strange - literary", beautiful colors, lush trees, no pests or diseases, etc.

The judging will take place on April 6 and the awards will be presented on the evening of April 8, 2025. The awards are expected to include Special, First, Second, Third prizes... corresponding to the groups of bonsai trees participating in the competition and considering the characteristics of bonsai. The funding for the competition will mainly come from socialized sources, with Hoa Hao General Hospital - Medic Can Tho being the main sponsor.

The contest is one of the activities of the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival in 2025; celebrating major holidays in 2025. At the same time, it creates a playground for artisans to share experiences, improve their skills; create conditions for organizations, individuals, and artisans to promote products, expand markets. Thereby, it also contributes to promoting and raising public awareness about environmental protection, biodiversity conservation and exploitation, promoting the value of plants; honoring collectives and individuals who collect, care for and protect ornamental plants; encouraging artisans, gardeners...
