Over 132 billion VND donated to support Tet for the poor in Nghe An

(Dan Tri) - On the evening of January 10, the program "Lam River Love - Spring At Ty 2025" in Vinh city, Nghe An province mobilized more than 130 billion VND to support disadvantaged households.


After more than two weeks of launching, as of 10:00 p.m. on January 10, the program "Lam River Love - Spring At Ty 2025" has received contributions from 157 organizations, units and individuals with a total value of money and gifts of more than 132 billion VND.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Le Hong Vinh, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that in 2024, the province overcame many difficulties to achieve important achievements thanks to the solidarity and determination of the entire political system, businesses and people.

"This is a meaningful activity, contributing to sharing difficulties, adding motivation for poor households to have a warm, full and happy Tet, demonstrating the tradition of "loving others as you love yourself" of Nghe An people," Mr. Vinh emphasized.

He also expressed his deep gratitude to domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, especially businesses that have actively responded and helped the poor through the "For the Poor" fund and social security programs.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province called on the poor to promote self-reliance, self-improvement, care for labor and help each other, following the principle of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves".

During the program, the painting "Nghia tinh dong Lam" was successfully auctioned for 1 billion VND, owned by businessman Vu Thanh Tuyen, contributing significantly to the fund to support the poor in Nghe An province.

The audience also met two children, Tra My and Hoai An, characters in the article in Dan Tri newspaper, who shared about their difficult situation when they lost both their parents.

The program "Lam River Love - Spring At Ty 2025" hopes to continue receiving attention and sharing from agencies, units, business communities and philanthropists inside and outside the province.

Over the past 12 years, the program has mobilized more than 873 billion VND, taking care of Tet for hundreds of thousands of poor households. For the 2024 Giap Thin Tet alone, it mobilized more than 143 billion VND, giving gifts to over 132,000 households.

In the 2023-2024 period, Nghe An province supported the construction and repair of more than 11,787 houses for the poor with a total resource of over VND 843 billion.

Nghe An still has more than 36,700 poor households and 47,800 near-poor households, especially more than 5,000 households living in temporary houses that need support from the whole society.
