As planned, this morning, May 17, students went to the exam site to listen to the exam regulations and correct errors (if any) in the exam room. Statistics from Hanoi National University of Education show that 17,439 candidates registered for the 2025 Competency Assessment (SPT) exam. Of which, the number of candidates registering for the Math exam was the highest with 13,182 students. Next were Literature with 11,914 registrations and English with 9,186 registrations.

This afternoon, from 1:30 p.m., candidates will take the Literature exam with 90 minutes to complete; the English exam from 4 p.m. with 60 minutes to complete.
Tomorrow, candidates will take exams in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, and Geography depending on their registration.

Sharing with VietNamNet this morning, Pham Manh Toan (a student at Ly Thuong Kiet High School, Thanh Hoa ) said that from early morning on May 16, he took a bus alone, traveling more than 180km from Thanh Hoa City to Hanoi National University of Education to prepare for today's exam. "I left home at 6am yesterday morning. I wanted to leave early to prepare myself mentally to be more comfortable," Toan said.
The male student shared that he felt a bit pressured when he learned that the number of candidates registering for this exam was up to more than 17,000.

Toan rented a room near the exam school with a friend, spending 1.25 million VND for 3 days and 2 nights to prepare for the exam. The male student said that he also took the Hanoi National University of Education's Competency Assessment exam to open another door for university admission, in addition to the general high school graduation exam. Toan wants to major in History Education, so he registered and will take the exam in 3 subjects: Literature, History, and Geography.
"I took the exam to increase my chances of getting into university and to gain more experience and train my mind before the high school graduation exam. Tomorrow, after finishing the History and Geography exams, I will take the bus home," Toan said.

In the Competency Assessment Exam organized by Hanoi National University of Education, candidates can register for the following subjects: Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography and use the exam results to apply for admission to regular university training programs according to the requirements of each university.
The content of the exams corresponds to the content of high school subjects and exams; in accordance with the 2018 GeneralEducation Program and the teaching, testing and assessment orientation of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The test combines multiple-choice and essay questions with appropriate scoring scales according to the structure of each test; assessing the level of understanding of core knowledge and the ability to reason, analyze, evaluate, problem solve and be creative. Candidates answer questions by filling in the multiple-choice answer sheet and writing on the test paper.

Hanoi National University of Education said that the expected announcement of exam results is before June 15.
Candidates can look up the admission information portal of Hanoi National University of Education and receive the certificate of exam results directly at the school or by post. Then, submit the certificate to the higher education institution that uses the SPT exam results for admission.

Hanoi National University of Education reminds candidates that SPT exam results are only valid for admission to full-time university programs in the 2025 enrollment year.
To date, the SPT exam results are used by 25 higher education institutions nationwide for admission to regular universities.
