Deputy Director of Hanoi National University Nguyen Hieu said that the groundbreaking ceremony of the University of Technology marked the overall development of Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac. The University of Technology is an important core of Hanoi National University in carrying out the mission of training high-quality human resources for the country, in the era of national development.
The University of Technology project (phase 1) is built on a land area of 5.87 hectares, with a total construction area of about 10,695m2, a total floor area of about 35,000m2 with 5 blocks of buildings from 2 to 5 floors high, a construction density of 23.3%. The project includes the following items: 1 office block, 2 classroom blocks and 2 practice blocks, a multi-purpose - experimental house and other technical infrastructure works: traffic system, power station, water supply, wastewater treatment plant, ... of the project is expected to be constructed within 12 months.
When completed, the project will meet the learning needs of 4,400 students according to the development strategy of the University of Technology, contributing to making the University of Technology a leading research university in the field of science and technology application in Vietnam, meeting the basic criteria of an advanced research university in Asia.
After more than 2 years of officially moving its headquarters to Hoa Lac (May 19, 2022), Hanoi National University Urban Area has been gradually changing its appearance, basically shaping a green, smart, modern university urban area with a current training scale of more than 6,000 students studying together. Hanoi National University has put into operation about 100,000m2 of construction with a number of works such as: HT1, HT2 lecture hall complexes; QG-HN04 area with a synchronous system of lecture halls, sports areas, cafeterias, dormitories and landscapes; Outdoor sports area under Project QG-HN07; Dormitory Area D1, D7, D8 and soon BC Dormitory Area with a cluster of 5 buildings.
It is expected that in January 2025, the component items of the project "Developing Vietnam's national universities - Hanoi National University Sub-project" such as the Digital Library & Knowledge Center and the Interdisciplinary Research Institute will start construction. By the end of 2025, first-year students of member schools and faculties of Hanoi National University will study at Hoa Lac, instead of just a few schools as at present (Medicine, Technology, Vietnam-Japan, Law...).
The investment project to build the Hanoi National University in Hoa Lac was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1907/QD-TTg dated October 18, 2013 with a scale of about 65,000 students; land use area of about 1,113.7 hectares, of which the area of component projects of Hanoi National University is 887.9 hectares; the area of advanced research facilities is 112.1 hectares; the resettlement area is 113.7 hectares. The total investment is 25,000 billion VND.
The project "Development of Vietnam National Universities - Sub-project of Hanoi National University" (World Bank Project) is a group A project with a total investment of 123.18 million USD, equivalent to nearly 2,900 billion VND, from World Bank loans and counterpart funds. Regarding foreign capital, Hanoi National University is granted 90% by the state budget and 10% is re-lent according to Resolution No. 14/NQ-CP dated February 20, 2020 of the Government on domestic financial mechanism for foreign loans of the Investment Project to build 3 Universities (Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University and Danang University)...
