The investigation led by Deputy Director of Task Force Dharmaram Gila found that 202 out of 203 successful candidates had submitted fake mark sheets from JS University in Shikohabad - a college that is licensed to offer only 100 Physical Education seats per year.

In fact, more than 2,000 candidates applied for jobs with degrees from the university, forcing investigators to thoroughly scrutinize the data on the server, according to India Today . As a result, the police have filed a criminal case against JS University and 165 candidates involved, while warning that there may be more institutional irregularities.

Serious abnormalities

Investigation found: 25 candidates claimed to have studied elsewhere but used JS University transcripts for verification; 26 candidates submitted degrees that did not match the declared year of study; 9 used completely fake documents; 43 candidates submitted degrees after the exam date of September 25, 2022, indicating that the degrees were forged after the exam.

In addition, SOG discovered signs of cheating in the librarian recruitment exam, when the school was also accused of issuing fake diplomas and deliberately falsifying information about the academic year. Brokers were identified as “links” in the production and distribution of fake transcripts. Backup data from the school’s servers confirmed that the printing of diplomas had been tampered with.

Several key figures, including the principal, the school secretary and a broker, have been arrested.

JS University in the “eye of the storm”

JS University is legally recognized. However, in recent years, the school has been embroiled in scandals involving the issuance of fake degrees and the arrest of its administrators. Among them is broker Ajay Bhardwaj, who has been arrested several times for similar scams but has managed to establish new schools to continue operating.

The incident not only raises questions about the integrity of teacher recruitment in Uttar Pradesh, but also exposes systemic flaws in education management and civil service examinations.

One recruitment scandal after another

In addition to the above incident, separate investigations into the recruitment of 69,000 teachers have also discovered a series of violations: from cheating on scores, abuse of preferential treatment, to irregularities in exam marking. The Special Task Force (STF) has set up district-level councils to review all the applications of successful candidates in different recruitment rounds.
