12 units participated in the tournament

The organizers said that at the tournament, athletes will compete in 16 events. This year, in particular, the Hoop event - which often appears at the SEA Games or Asian Games - will be brought back to the national arena.

The tournament kicked off on April 15 and brought dramatic, spectacular competitions and improved professional quality in the first competitions.

The tournament is an opportunity for units to evaluate the quality of selection and training of high-performance sepak takraw athletes.

At the same time, it is an opportunity for localities to review their systems and training plans to make appropriate adjustments to further develop the Sepak Takraw movement and serve as a basis for selecting quality players to prepare for major tournaments, especially the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.

In recent times, the Vietnamese sepak takraw team has competed very successfully in international tournaments.

At the 2025 World Cup held in India at the end of March, Vietnamese badminton won the gold medal in the women's 4-team event after defeating Thailand in a dramatic final match.

Previously at the 19th Asian Games in 2023 in China, the Vietnamese girls also won a gold medal in the 4-women team event.
