This is an event to preserve and promote the unique cultural and artistic values of traditional puppetry of the Vietnamese people, to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025) and the 2025 Red Flamboyant Festival.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong Tran Thi Hoang Mai said that Hai Phong City is a coastal area, rich in cultural identity with strong tangible and intangible cultural identities. In recent years, along with investment in economic development, the City has always paid attention to investing in cultural development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people with many specific and practical policies. Intangible cultural heritages in the city are recorded, preserved, conserved and promoted in life.

The city currently has 12 intangible cultural heritages included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages. With its outstanding values, on December 20, 2019, the folk performing art of Nhan Hoa water puppetry in Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city was honored to be recognized and included in the list of national intangible cultural heritages by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The 3rd Hai Phong Puppetry Festival will take place from May 4 to May 9 at the City Theater Square and the Cam River Theater, promising to bring a vibrant week filled with traditional artistic colors.
This festival brings together actors from 3 professional puppet theaters and 5 traditional puppetry troupes from localities across the country. Each festival is a precious opportunity to honor, preserve and promote traditional artistic values, the priceless spiritual heritage that our ancestors have nurtured through many generations.

At this year's Festival, there will be many attractive activities such as: Performances of ancient cheo excerpts, amateur music, puppet shows, water puppet shows...
Before the opening ceremony, more than 3,000 artists, actors, artisans and the public participated in the parade through several central streets. The parade included groups: Folk puppetry troupes; folk clubs; Ao Dai and Vietnamese traditional costume heritage groups; women of Kim Thanh district (Hai Duong); especially with the participation of international groups including overseas students, students, experts living and working in Hai Phong...

This is an opportunity for puppetry art to not only be associated with the space of the water pavilion or the narrow theater stage but to step out onto a larger stage to be closer to the audience, so that tourists and the public can immerse themselves and enjoy traditional artistic values in the heart of the city with 70 brilliant flower seasons, a Hai Phong that is rising in the new era of the nation.
