On May 23, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry - Ho Chi Minh City Branch (VCCI - HCM) coordinated with Lien Minh Wood Handicraft Joint Stock Company to hold a press conference to introduce the Vietnam ASEAN International Furniture & Handicraft Export Fair (VIFA ASEAN) 2024.
With the theme "The convergence of Southeast Asian furniture essence", the 2nd Vietnam ASEAN International Furniture & Handicraft Export Fair (VIFA ASEAN) will take place from August 27 - 30 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), 799 Nguyen Van Linh, Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.
VIFA ASEAN 2024 is expected to attract more than 300 exhibiting businesses from 11 countries in Southeast Asia and other countries around the world , with 1,000 booths on an area of 18,000m2 . The products on display are diverse and rich, with modern styles as well as bearing the cultural characteristics of the countries including: Interior products (living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen), exterior (garden, swimming pool, resort), handicrafts, home decoration, machinery, equipment, tools and support services...

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem - Director of VCCI-HCM informed: According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in the first 4 months of 2024, Vietnam's export and import of goods both increased by 15.1% over the same period last year: exports are estimated at 124 billion USD, imports are 115 billion USD, trade surplus is 9 billion USD. In particular, the export of wood products, interior and exterior is one of the 6 industry groups with the highest export value in the first 4 months of 2024, reaching 4.89 billion USD, an increase of 25% over the same period last year (much higher than the general export growth rate of Vietnam).
According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem, US importers highly appreciate and identify Vietnam as a market supplying wood and wood products, especially important wooden furniture products in the world. This is clearly shown when the US is the largest market importing wood and wood products from Vietnam and Vietnam is the number 1 market supplying wooden furniture to the US. This will be the foundation for export breakthroughs in this market if businesses know how to take advantage of the opportunity. “However, focusing too much on one main market is a weakness of Vietnam. The proof is that when the consumption demand of the US market decreases, the export value of Vietnam also decreases significantly. Therefore, Vietnamese wood industry enterprises need to continue to diversify and gradually increase the proportion of exports to other potential markets to minimize risks,” Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem shared.
Faced with that challenge, the 2nd VIFA ASEAN Fair is an important trade promotion event for the wood and interior and exterior furniture industry of Vietnam. With the spirit of flexibility, creativity, and market adaptation, VIFA ASEAN will be a bridge to help Vietnamese interior and exterior furniture enterprises join the business community of Southeast Asia and the world; thereby, easily proactively searching for orders, new cooperation opportunities, expanding connections with buyers from many countries around the world./.
