More than 300 people with disabilities participate in the sports event "No distance"

On the morning of September 23, at 24/3 Square, Tam Ky City ( Quang Nam Province), more than 600 delegates and athletes, including more than 300 disabled people from Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam provinces, participated in the event Running with disabled people "No distance - No limit".

This sporting event is one of the activities within the framework of the projects “Enhancing the capacity and enhancing the status of people with disabilities” and “Inclusion 1” funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

The event was organized by the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Nam province in coordination with the Institute for Community Development Studies (ACDC), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Association of People with Disabilities of Quang Nam province and with the support of departments, branches, unions, and localities of Quang Nam province such as: Health , Foreign Affairs, Provincial Police, Provincial Youth Union, Tam Ky City People's Committee...

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee emphasized: In recent years, the Party, State and society have always paid attention to the work of supporting people with disabilities; The Government, Ministries, Departments at the Central level and Quang Nam province have issued and implemented many policies and guidelines to care for, ensure the rights and promote the role of people with disabilities; thereby enhancing the responsibility of all levels, sectors and communities in protecting, caring for and supporting people with disabilities; creating favorable conditions for people with disabilities to access support policies on health, education, vocational training, job creation, livelihood support, legal, culture, sports and tourism... The "No Distance - No Limits" running event is a way to fuel and motivate people with disabilities, gradually removing the barriers that people with disabilities face every day, in participating in community integration, in sharing love.

“Through today’s event, I hope that the event will spread a strong message about the capabilities of people with disabilities. Do difficult things while they are easy and do great things while they are small. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Winners are not those who have never failed, but those who have never given up,” Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People’s Committee Tran Anh Tuan emphasized.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, delegates, athletes and more than 300 disabled people from Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam provinces made efforts to conquer the 2km long running track on several major roads in the center of Tam Ky city (Quang Nam province).

At the end of the “No Distance - No Limits” running event, the Organizing Committee mobilized and received support from agencies, units, and benefactors of more than 50 million VND and 20 wheelchairs to raise funds to support people with disabilities, focusing on the construction of accessible works in Quang Nam province, including building ramps and accessible toilets for people with disabilities./.
