On the evening of November 22, at the Provincial Gymnasium (Buon Ma Thuot City), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the Vietnam Boxing Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 2023 National Boxing Championship.
Attending the opening ceremony were Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Thai Hong Ha; President of the Vietnam Boxing Federation Luu Tu Bao and leaders and coaching staff of the participating teams.

This year's tournament brings together 326 martial artists from 36 provinces and cities, competing in two age groups: 17-18 years old and 19-40 years old. In the 17-18 age group, there are 14 weight categories for men from 46 kg to over 92 kg, and 11 weight categories for women from 45 kg to over 81 kg. In the 19-40 age group, there are 14 weight categories for men and 13 weight categories for women.

This is the last important tournament of the year in the national competition system with the goal of screening and selecting boxers for the national team, aiming for the Olympic qualifiers and the 2024 Olympics.
On the opening night of the tournament, the audience witnessed an exciting match in the 45 kg weight class for women, age 17-18 between the two defending champions.

It was a match between boxer Huynh Ha Huu Hieu (Ho Chi Minh City), the 32nd SEA Games champion in Kun Khmer and the owner of the prestigious WBC Muay Thai international championship belt, and boxer Nguyen Thi Anh Thu (Thai Binh), the reigning champion of the 2022 National Sports Festival, champion of the 2023 National Strong Team Boxing Tournament taking place in April, also in Dak Lak. As a result, Anh Thu defeated her opponent after 3 rounds thanks to a points win.

In this tournament, the host Dak Lak has 16 boxers competing. In the first night of competition, boxer Ha Van Quynh (age group 19-40, weight class 60 kg) defeated boxer Dang Long Nhat of Hanoi to bring the first victory to Dak Lak.
