From early morning, many candidates were present at the exam school to prepare for the 10th grade specialized exam.

In 2025, the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences (under the University of Natural Sciences - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) will enroll 525 students in grade 10 (including Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology classes; each specialized block has 105 students).
Sharing with VietNamNet , Dr. Le Cong Loi, Principal of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, said that this year, the school received a total of 3,000 applications for the 10th grade entrance exam, of which the most were in the IT specialized group.
Specifically, with 855 applications, the competition ratio for the IT major is up to 1/8.1; that is, out of 8 candidates, only 1 is accepted. The second place is the Math major with 603 applications, the competition ratio is 1/5.7. The Physics and Chemistry majors have the competition ratios of 1/5.1 and 1/5.6, respectively. The Biology major has the lowest competition ratio of 1/3.9.
All candidates must take three general exams: Literature, Math (round 1) and English, before taking the specialized exam.
This morning, June 1, candidates taking the entrance exam to the Natural Science Specialized High School took the Literature exam in 120 minutes. The Literature and English scores are conditions and are not used to calculate the admission score. However, candidates on the admission list for each specialized block must take all 3 general exams (Literature, English and Math (round 1)) and the corresponding specialized exam, and must not be suspended from taking the exam. The exam score for all subjects must be 4 or higher.
Present at the exam site of the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences, Hai Linh (living in Bac Ninh) said that because her house is far away, she took a bus to Hanoi and rented a hotel to stay these days. She also had her sister take her to the exam to encourage her spirit. Before entering the exam room, the student sat down to have breakfast right at the exam site to prepare for the 2 hours of taking the test.

Meanwhile, Quynh Anh, a female student, said she registered for Biology in this exam. “I don’t feel pressured because it’s my favorite subject. My parents didn’t put any pressure on me, so I ‘eat well, sleep well’ and am in good health to take the exam,” Quynh Anh said.
Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang (Cau Giay district, Hanoi) said that this year her child took the exam for the IT major at the High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences.
"After reading the information, I learned that this year the competition rate for the IT major is suddenly higher than the Math major, so I'm even more worried. My son is a good student, but I just hope he can stay calm in the exam room to get the best results," said Ms. Giang.

At the Foreign Language Specialized High School (under the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi), from 6am, parents and students gathered at the testing locations to take two consecutive tests in the morning.
Principal Nguyen Phu Chien said that in 2025, the school received 3,386 applications for the 10th grade entrance exam.
Of which, the English major continues to have the largest number of registered candidates with 1,611 applications; however, the competition rate in the Russian major is the highest.

Ngo Quynh Chi, a student at Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School, registered for the French major, but was worried because the competition rate for this major was 1/6.9. "I have studied French for several years so I want to try to get into this major, but my strength is Biology so I am a bit nervous."
After majoring in Language, the female student will continue to attend two specialized schools: Pedagogy and Chu Van An.
On the contrary, Minh Phuong, Chi's best friend, is quite relaxed. With her strength in English and determination to take the entrance exam for specialized schools since 8th grade, Phuong soon bought separate exam preparation sets for each school. In addition, since 8th grade, the female student has focused on studying for international language certificates to gain extra points in exams. Currently, Phuong has a TOEFL and IELTS score of 7.5.
"In such a short time, I combine studying and getting enough rest to have good physical health, so that I will be in the most alert state during the exam," Phuong said.
In addition to the Language major, the female student will continue to take the entrance exam to the Pedagogy major.

This year, candidates applying for grade 10 majoring in Foreign Languages must take four exams, including Math, Literature, English and a specialized subject.
Students can choose one of five foreign languages, including English, French, Chinese, German, Japanese, and Korean, to take the entrance exam for the corresponding specialized classes. English can be applied to all specialized classes.

The admission score is the total score of 4 subjects on a 10-point scale, in which the specialized subject is multiplied by a coefficient of 2, maximum of 50, without bonus points. The results will be announced by the school before July 15.
