The conference took place over 2 days (June 20-21) in both direct and online formats, with the participation of Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Quang - Director of Hai Phong Department of Health ; Professor, Dr. Ton Thi Kim Thanh - President of Vietnam Ophthalmology Association; representatives of the Vietnam Ophthalmology Association and more than 650 professors, doctors, and ophthalmologists from home and abroad.
The conference is a vibrant academic forum, gathering the wisdom, experience and enthusiasm of experts, contributing to improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases in Vietnam. This is also an opportunity for experts to exchange and discuss difficulties, problems and propose appropriate solutions, towards the goal of "Reducing blindness, improving community vision".
Within the framework of the Conference, delegates shared many professional experiences in imaging diagnosis and treatment of lesions related to uveitis; updated new treatment trends, prophylactic corticosteroid regimens before phaco surgery in patients with a history of chronic uveitis; vitreous surgery, treatment of tractional retinal detachment, glaucoma and secondary glaucoma in eyes with uveitis; early vitrectomy as well as monitoring and treatment procedures for non-infectious uveitis in children. Contents on posterior scleritis were also discussed in depth.
Vitreo-retinal is a specialized field of ophthalmology, playing an important role in the treatment of complex eye diseases. Development in this field requires high expertise, modern equipment and continuous training of medical staff to improve the quality of treatment and vision care for the community.
In recent years, with the support of the Ministry of Health , the Vietnam Ophthalmological Association and international partners, the vitreous-retinal specialty in Vietnam has made strong progress. Many hospitals have successfully deployed advanced techniques and difficult techniques in vitreous-retinal surgery, with effective support from modern equipment systems such as surgical microscopes, new generation vitreous cutters, OCT scanners integrated with artificial intelligence (AI)...
In Hai Phong, the health sector is particularly interested in developing ophthalmology in general and vitreous-retinal in particular. Hai Phong Eye Hospital has been promoting investment in equipment, training human resources and expanding international cooperation. In the first 6 months of 2025, the Hospital has successfully performed many complex vitreous-retinal surgeries, and organized examination, screening and treatment of fundus diseases for diabetic patients.
