Việt NamViệt Nam08/08/2023

Among the famous landscapes in the land of yellow flowers and green grass, Hon Yen is a fascinating and attractive landscape complex for tourists.

Fishermen in the community tourism group use basket boats to take visitors to Hon Yen.

Hon Yen scenic complex in Nhon Hoi village, An Hoa Hai commune (Tuy An district), 15km north of Tuy Hoa city. In April 2018, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized this place as a national scenic spot.

This scenic spot includes: Hon Yen, Hon Dun, Ban Than, Ganh Yen, Hon Choi, Vung Choi, creating a natural masterpiece by the sea. The most obvious highlight is Hon Yen, only a few hundred meters from the shore. Hon Yen and Hon Dun are located next to each other, creating a poetic and lyrical sea space that attracts tourists.

Hon Yen cliff has many interesting layers, creating a majestic natural picture between the sea and sky. Hon Yen is a geological wonder - a basalt island up to 70m high with thousands of black, reddish-brown stone columns in hexagonal shapes, running along vertical and oblique veins created by volcanoes millions of years ago. Geologists say that Hon Yen was formed by a geological tectonic process similar to Ganh Da Dia.

Fishermen in the community tourism group use basket boats to take tourists along the waterway to avoid trampling on coral.

Coming to Hon Yen in the early or late summer months, when the tide recedes far away, visitors can walk on the exposed rock beach that opens up a 20m long sea path connecting Hon Yen and Hon Dun. Previously, visitors waded to experience, despite the destruction of coral and aquatic species right under their feet. Currently, the people of Yen village, with the support of organizations, have formed a community to do tourism and protect the coral ecosystem of Hon Yen.

Hon Yen corals come in all shapes and colors, looking from afar like dancers dancing to the lively tune of the ocean, under the clear blue water. Occasionally, schools of small fish appear, leisurely swimming under the coral canopy. If you observe carefully, visitors can also see sea cucumbers, sea urchins and starfish clinging to the beautiful coral reefs. This is considered one of the rare coral reefs in Vietnam.

According to local people, in the past, this is where swiftlets often flew to nest, the name Hon Yen comes from this. In addition, Hon Yen seen from the sea looks like a giant sail symbolizing the profession of going out to sea and protecting the peaceful fishing village. From another perspective, Hon Yen looks like a spearhead, the tip of the spear reaching high into the sky, like a unique feature of rock, water, ocean and the harmony of creation.

Currently, tourists can come to Hon Yen to experience community tourism, immerse themselves in the natural landscape and the life of local people with activities such as visiting Hon Yen complex by basket boat, exploring the coral area, lobster farming area, Ganh Yen, Hon Dun, Lo Chao...; visiting Hon Yen complex from above with a walking tour along the hill roads; visiting the bird's nest making profession, the fishing net weaving profession with fishermen and especially enjoying dishes with strong flavors of the sea.
