'Cooperatives - Building a Better World'

The operating methods of some cooperatives in the province have been innovated, such as "Linking the chain of production and product consumption organization" with high efficiency.

On April 11, 1946, Uncle Ho wrote a letter to Vietnamese landlords and farmers calling for participation in the establishment of agricultural cooperatives. After 19 years, also on April 11, Uncle Ho sent a letter to the Cooperative Congress and the advanced agricultural production team in the mountainous and midland areas, praising the typical advanced cooperatives and requesting that all levels and sectors pay attention to directing the development of agricultural cooperatives .

With the meaning of April 11 marking two important events for the cooperative movement in Vietnam, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Cooperative Federation, term IV, 2010-2015, unanimously submitted and was approved by the Prime Minister to take April 11 every year as Vietnam Cooperative Day.

2025 is the second year that the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance organizes the Action Month for Cooperatives with a series of activities taking place throughout the year, culminating in April 2025.

With the theme "Cooperatives - Building a Better World ", the Action Month is organized to promote, motivate, and encourage to create new motivation and new spirit for cadres and workers in the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system and managers, members, and workers in cooperatives and affiliated members nationwide and the whole society to promote the spirit of responsibility, proactiveness, innovation, and creativity , contributing to the further development of the collective economy.

At the same time, promote digital transformation in all aspects of cooperative activities and the operation of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system; "bridge" between cooperatives and domestic enterprises, expand international markets; perform well the function of protecting the legitimate rights and interests of member cooperatives; play a core role and promote the development of the collective economy, contributing to the cause of socio-economic development of the country. Thereby, creating trust and attention from the Party, State, local Party committees and authorities, the political system and the whole society in developing the collective economy and building an increasingly strong Vietnam Cooperative Alliance system.

On June 19, 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution A/RES/78/175 on Cooperatives in Social Development and proclaimed 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives. This is the second time in history that the United Nations has dedicated an international year to cooperatives. According to the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs - Li Junhua, the second International Year of Cooperatives will be an opportunity to call on all stakeholders to support and replicate the cooperative model everywhere, thereby promoting their contribution to a better world.

In Long An, in recent times, with the attention and direction of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee, and the efforts of the Provincial Cooperatives Association, the economic and collective economic sector has seen remarkable changes. Vice Chairman in charge of the Provincial Cooperatives Association - Tran Hoai Bao said: "Cooperatives have transformed their organizational models in accordance with the Law on Cooperatives. The operating methods of some cooperatives have been innovated, such as "Linking the production and consumption chain" which has achieved high efficiency and is being replicated throughout the province."

Promoting the achieved results, in 2025, the Provincial Cooperatives Association will continue to innovate and improve the operational efficiency of cooperatives in organizing value chain-linked production; implement the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030" in the province; enhance the application of science and technology; improve the management level of cooperatives. Propaganda work and focus on training young human resources will also be promoted. Thereby, creating a foundation to promote stronger development of collective economy in the future./.
