Speaking to the press, Mr. Victok Orban said that Russian attacks are now very difficult to stop. Therefore, Ukraine's efforts will be in vain in the long run. Kiev is unlikely to win despite continuous support from the West, Mr. Orban emphasized.
Furthermore, the Hungarian leader also compared the conflict in Ukraine with the conflict in Afghanistan.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has repeatedly called on Russia and Ukraine to cease fire and reach a peace deal, stressing that sanctions against Russia hurt Europe more than they hurt Moscow.
Meanwhile, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that "Europe is getting closer to a disaster - unfortunately, in every sense", ahead of a meeting with EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg earlier this week.
"Greater trouble could be averted and thousands of lives could be saved once European countries get out of war hysteria," Peter Szijjarto said, suggesting that the EU foreign ministers' meeting in Luxembourg was unlikely to have a positive outcome.
At the EU foreign ministers' meeting on June 26, EU member states agreed to maximize the size of the military assistance fund for Ukraine, with the ceiling on military assistance to Kiev from the EU increased to more than 12 billion euros.
Regarding Victok Orban's remarks, Ukraine summoned the Hungarian ambassador in Kiev to protest Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's remarks about Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Zelensky also recently asked the EU to take strong measures against the presence of tycoon Wagner in Belarus, considering it a potential security threat to EU members.
