3.2 million online contest entries to learn about the Law on Drug Prevention and Control

On December 4, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04, Ministry of Public Security ) announced that after 3 months of launching, the Drug Prevention and Control Law Competition has received a large response from all walks of life. Statistics show that there have been 3.2 million online entries on the Internet, with nearly 5,000 essay entries.

With the aim of disseminating and popularizing the 2021 Law on Drug Prevention and Control and its guiding documents, thereby raising awareness, knowledge and skills in drug prevention and control for citizens at home and abroad, on March 9, 2023, the Ministry of Public Security issued Plan 113 to organize the Competition on Understanding the Law on Drug Prevention and Control. The Department of Drug Crime Investigation Police was assigned as the Standing Unit, the agency in charge of organizing the Competition.

The contest is organized in two forms: multiple choice on the Internet and essay writing. The online contest question system is built with the purpose of providing basic knowledge about the Law on Drug Prevention and Control and its guiding documents. The contest software system is designed to be attractive, multimedia, highly interactive, and easily accessible to all audiences.

Immediately after the Ministry of Public Security issued the Plan, the contest received strong and close direction from departments, ministries, branches, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities and the local political system. The contest received attention and participation from many social sectors, diverse in occupation, age, ethnicity, religion, both domestic, overseas Vietnamese and foreign students studying in Vietnam.

Imprints in the work of propaganda and dissemination of laws on drug prevention and control

After 3 months of launching, more than 3.2 million people participated in the online contest. At the same time, the Organizing Committee received nearly 5,000 essay entries. In fact, the number of entries was much larger, as units and localities organized preliminary exams and selected high-quality entries, sending them to the Organizing Committee. This shows that the influence of the Contest is very wide, has profound meaning, and is a mark in the work of propagating and popularizing the law.

Many entries are passionate, impressive and creative, the entry models are invested in carefully and systematically... In addition to the paper version, many entries are accompanied by QR codes, video clips, graphic designs that are vivid, attractive, close, easy to understand and easy to access. Many articles are highly creative, rich in content, scientific in presentation, demonstrating the thoroughness, neatness and seriousness of the contestants.

In the essay contests, the Organizing Committee received many paintings drawn by middle and high school students with propaganda and encouragement content about drug prevention and control; some entries were made into Braille versions for the visually impaired... Some entries were translated into many languages, contributing to bringing the Law closer to life.

Besides the writing competition, the authors sent many messages, aiming for a drug-free society, among which, there were entries sent by visually impaired contestants... Many neatly handwritten entries took up hundreds of pages.

In particular, the Organizing Committee received handwritten entries from an 81-year-old woman and a 76-year-old man in Hanoi, as well as many entries from primary, secondary and high school students. The works were presented concisely and simply, not necessarily as entries, but through them, they showed concern for drug prevention and control, drug abuse, and at the same time conveyed many wishes and expectations for drug prevention and control. These articles will be a source of materials for effective propaganda work on drug prevention and control.

According to Department C04, the Competition on Understanding the Law on Drug Prevention and Control organized by the Ministry of Public Security was meaningful, widespread, and created positive effects in the political system and the people. The success of the competition was assessed through the quantity and quality of both content and form, and the participants at all levels, sectors, and all ages./.
