Lotus color of Hang Mua

Located in Hang Mua Tourist Area, Hoa Lu city, the lotus pond is considered one of the most prominent lotus fields in Ninh Binh every summer.

The lotus pond is over 1 hectare wide, mainly growing Japanese lotus (red lotus), located in the middle of a mountainous area, surrounded by charming scenery and ancient architecture. The brilliant lotus flowers among the green of the trees and grass are like a radiant highlight in the middle of a vivid natural picture.

Hang Mua lotus pond stretches across a swamp with an area of over 1 hectare, mainly growing Japanese lotus (red lotus). This year, in particular, the pond is decorated with water lilies, contributing to creating a more brilliant, colorful and attractive scene than ever.

According to Mr. Do Duc Hoi, in charge of Hang Mua lotus pond technology, since January, the unit has started to renovate the land, destroy old lotus roots, and prepare for the new crop.

The care process is carried out systematically, from fertilization, pest control to ensuring aesthetics for tourists. During peak season, the lagoon welcomes 1,500 to 2,000 visitors per day, with some days the number of visitors doubling.

The pressure is great, but it is also the motivation for the staff to take better care of the flowers every day, ensuring the beauty of the lotus pond to serve tourists.

In recent years, lotus has been grown a lot by the people of Hoa Lu city, especially in areas near tourist attractions such as Tam Coc-Bich Dong, Thung Nham, Thung Nang..., becoming a highlight attracting tourists.

Tourist Hoang Thuy Linh ( Hanoi ) shared that every year she returns to Ninh Binh to admire the lotus because the peaceful and pure beauty of the lotus pond makes people feel at ease. Taking photos with lotus is not only to preserve memories but also to experience peace in the middle of cool green nature.

Developing sustainable value chain from lotus

In recent years, many localities in Ninh Binh have switched to developing ecological agriculture associated with tourism, forming complexes, cooperatives, and enterprises investing in growing lotus in the direction of commodity production, creating a sustainable value chain.

In Hoa Lu city, the model of growing new lotus varieties combined with developing eco-tourism and rural agriculture has been effectively implemented. Many models of growing new lotus varieties combined with fish farming for tourism and services have brought about very good economic efficiency. Thanks to "multi-purpose" lotus growing, many households in Hoa Lu have become rich.

Ms. Le Thanh Huyen, Director of HaLi Production, Trade and Service Joint Stock Company, Hoa Lu city, said that realizing the potential of tourism and ecological landscape, the enterprise invested in planting 48 hectares of various types of lotus, currently directly exploiting 22 hectares.

In addition to serving as a landscape, lotus also provides flowers, leaves, tubers... as raw materials for nearly 20 products such as Thanh Xuan lotus leaf tea (3-star OCOP), dried lotus seeds, lotus root starch, lotus wine, handicraft products from lotus paper, and immortelle flowers.

With initial results, Hoa Lu city continues to expand the model of growing Japanese lotus and new lotus varieties combined with fish farming, serving tourism and services.

Thanks to the intercropping of lotus, the flowering season lasts until November. Many lotus ponds quickly become famous check-in spots, attracting the attention of tourists and the online community every time they come to Ninh Binh./.
