In his opening remarks at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung – Director of the Center for Communication on Natural Resources and Environment under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment – stated that environmental pollution is one of the most pressing issues today. This situation threatens biodiversity, contributes to climate change, and causes many other consequences that humanity must bear. In particular, plastic waste and other environmental pollutants are negatively impacting the environment. This is closely related to economic development and social stability.
Over the years, Vietnam has implemented numerous mechanisms, strategies, policies, and projects to minimize plastic waste and protect the environment. Recognizing the urgent need to protect the environment through the sorting of household solid waste at source, the 2020 Environmental Protection Law dedicates six articles to clearly regulating the sorting, storage, and transfer of household solid waste; collection and transportation costs; pollution treatment and environmental remediation of household solid waste landfills; and stipulates that household solid waste generated by households and individuals is classified into three categories: reusable and recyclable solid waste; food waste; and other household solid waste.
Sorting household solid waste at the source is extremely important in minimizing waste treatment costs. The Environmental Protection Law and its implementing regulations stipulate the sorting of household solid waste and penalties for non-sorting, aiming to build and develop a green, civilized, and sustainable lifestyle within the circular economy, which is inseparable from waste sorting.
With the shared desire to preserve and protect the environment, the Center for Environmental Communication - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, together with Toyota Vietnam Motor Company, organized the launching ceremony of the program "Toyota Vietnam Responds to the Month of Action for the Environment - Towards Green Transformation 2023" to implement many large-scale social contribution activities and educate the community on environmental protection, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility for environmental protection, waste sorting at source, and creating conditions for students, young people, and citizens to actively participate and contribute to the cause of environmental protection.

Mr. Nakano Keita, General Director of Toyota Vietnam, stated that throughout its nearly 30 years in Vietnam, Toyota has always strived to be a green brand with the mission of "Creating happiness for everyone," with environmental protection being the company's top priority. Toyota has been pursuing a strategy of developing multi-faceted approaches to reduce the impact of CO2 emissions and aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050 through environmental protection activities such as planting 8,600 trees in 77 schools nationwide in the "Toyota Joins Hands to Green Schools" program; and the "Second Life of Tires" program, which donated 9 playgrounds built from recycled tires to students in 6 provinces and cities. In addition, Toyota has also partnered with the Government in several programs such as "Tree Planting Festival in memory of President Ho Chi Minh" and "One Billion Trees – For a Green Vietnam."

At the launch ceremony of the "Toyota Responds to the Month of Action for the Environment Towards Green Transformation 2023" program, Mr. Nakano Keita hoped that the program would contribute to raising awareness about waste sorting and treatment, as well as encouraging people in Xuan Hoa - Vinh Phuc to actively participate in environmental protection activities, thereby working together to preserve a green, clean, and beautiful living environment for both present and future generations.
At the launching ceremony, in order to contribute to environmental protection and raise awareness about waste collection and sorting at source for the community, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Toyota Vietnam Motor Company donated waste sorting bins to representatives of Phuc Yen City, Xuan Hoa Ward People's Committee, and to households, villages, and communes where waste is collected.

Mr. Dinh Quang Trung – Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa Ward – expressed his gratitude for the very practical and meaningful activities of the Center for Communication on Natural Resources and Environment - Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Toyota Vietnam Company through the program "Toyota responds to the month of action for the environment towards green transformation in 2023". Recognizing the importance of environmental protection, in recent years, the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa Ward has directed residential groups and relevant agencies to promote activities to raise awareness and encourage people to participate in environmental protection.
Simultaneously, the ward has been promoting a civilized urban lifestyle and effectively participating in "Green Sunday" movements and practical activities such as mural painting and planting flowerbeds. Neighborhood groups have implemented the construction of 12 bright, green, clean, and beautiful streets, established self-managed streets for environmental protection, maintained environmental hygiene, sorted waste at source, and used resources and the environment rationally... contributing to reducing the total amount of waste released into the environment, saving costs on waste collection, transportation, and treatment. Through this launching ceremony, Mr. Quang Trung hopes that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and other agencies and units will continue to provide more support and attention to environmental protection in Xuan Hoa ward in particular and Vinh Phuc province in general.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa Ward carried out a campaign to collect and sort waste on Pham Van Dong Street, Xuan Hoa Ward, encouraging residents in the ward to collect and sort waste at the source.
