A doe of a family in Son Giang commune, Huong Son district ( Ha Tinh ) gave birth to twin male deer, which is considered a rare event in the area.
The 2 newborn deer are 5 days old and are developing normally.
It is known that the female deer that just gave birth to twins belongs to the family of Ms. Dinh Thi Lich (born in 1949, in village 7, Son Giang commune). On the evening of January 18, the deer went into labor after 7.5 months of pregnancy (the birth cycle of deer) and gave birth to 2 male deer (one weighing 2.8 kg, one weighing 3 kg). After being born, the 2 deer were healthy, beautiful in shape, standing up and walking normally.
The sow has been raised by Mrs. Dinh Thi Lich's family for 6 years now. At reproductive age, this deer gives birth to one calf every year, but this year it gave birth to twins. According to local people, this is a "rare" phenomenon. For that reason, in the past few days, the phenomenon of twin deer has attracted the curiosity of many people who came to see it.
Mrs. Lich takes care of three newborn deer.
According to Ms. Chu Thi Hong Ha - Director of Thuan Ha Deer Velvet Company Limited (Son Trung): "This is a very rare event, and also very difficult to raise. We have been raising deer for decades, at peak times there were hundreds of female deer in the barn, but there has never been a year when a mother deer gave birth to twins."
