The resettlement area of Rai hamlet, Tuan Dao commune (Lac Son) is being accelerated by the construction unit and households to build houses, to be completed before the 2025 storm season.

In mid-May, at the resettlement area of Rai hamlet, Tuan Dao commune (Lac Son), the investor and construction contractor made great efforts to complete the final auxiliary works. Many households mobilized maximum human and material resources to build houses to ensure progress in moving to new residences before the 2025 storm season. Due to the urgent construction time and limited resources, many households still encountered difficulties. However, with the participation of the entire political system from the province to the grassroots level, people were promptly supported to handle difficulties and problems.

Mr. Bui Van Phong, Rai hamlet shared: "Previously, my family lived in a high hill area with potential landslide risks. Thanks to the attention and support of the State, we were moved to a new place. Construction of the house started at the end of April, and now the basic items are basically completed. My family, as well as other households in this area, hope that the authorities at all levels and functional sectors will pay attention and provide financial support to somewhat reduce the financial burden."

The infrastructure construction project for the resettlement area of Xom Rai has a total investment of more than 72.4 billion VND from the central and provincial budgets. The project is divided into 2 urgent and non-urgent items, including 1 concentrated resettlement area with 131 land lots (111 lots for households resettled by landslides and 20 reserve lots), the total leveled area is about 6 hectares, synchronous infrastructure system including roads, earth retaining embankments, domestic water supply system, lighting power supply, wastewater system, rainwater drainage and some other works.

In Quy Hoa commune, the area also suffered serious landslides in 2024 due to the impact of storm No. 3. With support from the State, the landslide-affected roads have been basically repaired. However, due to the complex terrain and weak soil, there is a potential risk of natural disasters during the rainy season. According to statistics, 6/12 hamlets in the commune, including hamlets: Thung 1, Thung 2, Doi, Theu, Cu... are "hot spots" of natural disasters.

Currently, the functional sectors have reviewed in the district, there are over 130 households in the communes: Yen Nghiep, Tuan Dao, Quy Hoa, Tan Lap, Mien Doi, Thuong Coc affected by rolling rocks, land subsidence in the disaster-affected areas... The main cause is assessed as the district has complex terrain, many high and rugged mountainous areas... Identifying the difficulties and challenges in responding to natural disasters, the District People's Committee has directed the standing agency to advise on strengthening the District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue (PCTT&TKCN). Develop operating regulations, assign specific tasks to each member in charge of key areas, vulnerable areas with potential risks of landslides. Focus on directing communes and towns to assign forces to proactively review and inspect vulnerable areas to develop timely treatment plans. At the same time, strengthen the work of checking and reviewing the safety of lakes and dams in the area.

When natural disasters occur, the Steering Committees for Disaster Prevention and Control at all levels effectively implement the 4-on-the-spot motto. Assign forces to organize on-duty response and promptly handle unusual incidents. Mobilize human and material resources to quickly evacuate people and property to safe places. Promote propaganda and mobilize people to raise awareness and responsibility in disaster prevention and control and control work...

Comrade Bui Van Phung, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lac Son district, said: With the spirit of proactively responding to natural disasters "early, from afar", the department has advised the District Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control to review scenarios for responding to natural disasters, incidents, search and rescue; organize supervision, inspection, and urge the work of preparing for disaster prevention and control, search and rescue before the rainy and flood season and before storms and floods occur; identify key areas, promptly overcome shortcomings, limit and minimize risks before the rainy and flood season; proactively prevent early, from afar and control natural disaster risks with the motto "prevention is the key".
