Mu Cang Chai mountainous district completes project to eliminate temporary houses

(PLVN) - Responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025", the mountainous district of Mu Cang Chai has completed and put into use 622 new houses and 149 repaired houses with a total support fund of more than 41.8 billion VND.

On June 5, the People's Committee of Mu Cang Chai district ( Yen Bai province) held a conference to announce the completion of the Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses by 2025 in the district, with 771/771 houses completed, reaching 100% of the plan.

The summary report of Mu Cang Chai District People's Committee said that as of May 26, Mu Cang Chai District has completed and put into use 622 new houses and 149 repaired houses. Of which, the beneficiaries are 8 houses, including 7 new houses and 1 repaired house; poor and near-poor households include 763 houses.

Specifically, Mu Cang Chai town has 2 houses; Nam Co commune has 109/109 houses; Cao Pha commune has 35 houses; Nam Khat commune has 11 houses; Pung Luong commune has 1 house; La Pan Tan commune has 69 houses; De Xu Phinh commune has 15 houses; Che Cu Nha commune has 48 houses; Kim Noi commune has 22 houses; Mo De commune has 60 houses; Lao Chai commune has 178 houses; Khao Mang commune has 110 houses; Ho Bon commune has 80 houses; Che Tao commune has 31 houses.

The total cost of implementing the plan is more than 41.8 billion VND, of which housing for people with meritorious services is 450 million VND, housing for poor and near-poor households is nearly 41.4 billion VND.

Up to now, the allocated budget is 33.9 billion VND, including 11.8 million VND from the provincial budget and 22.1 billion VND from socialized sources through the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee. The allocated budget has reached 33.9 billion VND, of which nearly 26.4 billion VND has been disbursed.

According to Mr. Dao Ngoc Hung - Chairman of Mu Cang Chai District People's Committee, to implement the project, the District People's Committee has established 14 Review Teams to determine housing needs for meritorious people, poor households, and near-poor households in the district in 2025. At the same time, at the district level and 14/14 communes and towns of the district, a Steering Committee and a Working Group have been established to assist in the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses at the commune level.

In addition, Mu Cang Chai district has mobilized and integrated resources in the process of implementing the plan with a support level of 60 million VND/new house and 30 million VND/repaired house, ensuring the principle of the State directly supporting a part, the community helping, and households organizing the construction of houses themselves. After being supported to build or repair, the new houses must ensure a minimum usable area of ​​30 m2 , ensure "3 hard" and the house's lifespan is 20 years or more.

Speaking at the conference, Ms. Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee, expressed her joy that Mu Cang Chai district was the first district to announce the completion of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in Yen Bai province, with the highest number of houses in need of support in the province. Despite many difficulties, Mu Cang Chai district has had the decisive participation of the political system and many creative ways such as establishing Steering Committees at the district and commune levels, establishing 14 teams to review needs, communes and towns actively and simultaneously started building houses from February to May, all like a large construction site with a bustling atmosphere.

The Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Provincial People's Committee assessed that in recent years, Mu Cang Chai district has made efforts and been proactive in implementing the housing support plan according to the province's Project. With the determination of the entire political system, the participation of all levels, sectors, organizations, businesses and people, Mu Cang Chai district has completed 100% of the houses according to the plan, contributing to the completion of the common goal of Yen Bai province before June 30, 2 months earlier than the planned target of the Project.

Statistics show that in the period of 2021 - 2024, Yen Bai province has supported the construction of over 7,400 houses for meritorious people, poor households, near-poor households, and households affected by storms and floods, of which Mu Cang Chai district supported the construction of 1,576 houses. In addition, Mu Cang Chai district also actively supported the construction of houses for households affected by natural disasters, storms and floods and mobilized additional resources to support the construction of houses for households outside the Project.

Implementing the Prime Minister 's direction, in 2025, Yen Bai province issued a Project to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses with the goal of supporting the construction of 2,208 houses with a total estimated budget of over 120 billion VND. Of which, Mu Cang Chai is the district with the highest number of houses needing support in Yen Bai province with 771/2,208 houses, accounting for 35% of the total number of houses needing support in the whole province, with a budget of over 41.3 billion VND, accounting for over 34% of the total support budget in the whole province.

In the period of 2021 - 2025, Mu Cang Chai district has built over 2,200 houses, contributing to bringing solid houses and warm homes to households, helping households settle down, improve housing quality, stabilize life and escape poverty sustainably.
