Kevin Costner accuses ex-wife of 'extortion'

Star Kevin Costner said he "respectfully requests" that former handbag designer and model Christine Baumgartner leave the mansion, which is his personal property, immediately and no later than July 13, 2023, according to new court documents filed on June 30, obtained by People earlier this week.

Kevin Costner, 68, tried to convince Baumgartner, 49, to leave the house for weeks, citing a prenuptial agreement the couple signed in 2004 that stated she would leave the house within 30 days if a divorce occurred.

The movie star was also required to provide her with a $1.2 million personal fortune, according to the binding contract.

Additionally, Costner offered to pay his ex-wife $10,000 up front to cover her moving expenses as well as $30,000 per month in rent "as part of his child support obligations."

However, even though it has been more than two months since Baumgartner filed for divorce, she has yet to leave the lavish home.

In early June 2023, Kevin Costner accused his ex-wife of refusing to move out and demanding that he agree to "various financial demands" before leaving the house.

Baumgartner later argued that The Bodyguard star had "no legal basis" to evict her, despite their prenuptial agreement.

Her lawyer then used the ex-couple's three children as a valid reason to explain why their mother deserved to stay in the home, noting that the home was where "the children have lived their entire lives."

Last week, Baumgartner appeared to be taking the final steps to exit the $145 million estate, but said she was only leaving on one condition: that her ex-husband ensure she received enough money to support herself.

The former model said in court documents previously obtained by Page Six that she has been unemployed since her eldest child was born in 2007. She has three children: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13, with Kevin Costner.

Baumgartner is therefore seeking $248,000 a month in child support, plus an undisclosed amount of spousal support agreed to in the prenuptial agreement.

However, Kevin Costner disagreed with the amount his ex-wife requested, claiming that he could not afford the amount she wanted given his job changes. Costner also accused his ex-wife of asking for the money to cover her personal expenses.

Kevin Costner's lawyers recently argued that Baumgartner spent more than $100,000 on plastic surgery, thousands of dollars on grocery shopping, ATM withdrawals, legal fees and other expenses that had "nothing to do" with the children.

Kevin Costner, who was married to Christine Baumgartner for 18 years, said the $51,940 a month he currently pays his ex-wife is a "reasonable" amount.
