Bac Ninh: Summary of the 2015 Reading Culture Ambassador Contest

(PLVN) - The Reading Culture Ambassador Contest launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) in recent years has become a brand in cultural life, for reading promotion activities, and has been enthusiastically responded to by students nationwide. In Bac Ninh, the Reading Culture Ambassador Contest organized annually by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Department of Education and Training has achieved many encouraging results.

On May 27, 2025, Mr. Nghiem Van Hach - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Bac Ninh province said that, following the success of the Bac Ninh Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in previous years, this year is the 5th year that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to issue Plan No. 456/KH-SVHTTDL dated March 11, 2025 on organizing the Bac Ninh Provincial Reading Culture Ambassador Contest in 2025.

After more than 2 months of launching (March 2025 - May 2025), the Contest has attracted a large number of students at 3 levels (Primary, Secondary, High School) from 8 districts, towns and cities in the province to participate, including localities with many participating schools such as: Bac Ninh City with 31 schools; Tu Son City with 31 schools, Tien Du District with 32 schools... Many schools have high-quality entries and won high prizes such as: Tuong Giang Primary School, Dinh Bang 2 Primary School, Tu Son Secondary School (Tu Son City); Nguyen Dang Dao Secondary School, Hoang Hoa Tham Primary and Secondary School (Bac Ninh City)...

The Organizing Committee received 81,229 entries (including 80,674 written entries; 555 video clips) from students of 241 schools across the province, with video clip entries increasing by 91% compared to 2024. The total number of entries in 2025 decreased by 19% compared to 2024. However, the quality of entries was focused on, the quality of content and form was highly invested in, the number of entries passing the preliminary round for judging increased by 25% compared to 2024. The total number of participating schools by area decreased by 14% compared to 2024, from 280 schools to 241 schools, due to the merger of some primary and secondary schools.

After a period of serious and responsible work, based on the results of the Jury's scoring, the Organizing Committee has considered and decided to reward 01 collective and 144 individuals, including: 01 Reading Culture Ambassador award; 04 First prizes; 13 Second prizes; 30 Third prizes and 96 Consolation prizes.

To achieve these achievements, Mr. Hach said that this year the Contest was implemented by the Organizing Committee very early, ensuring close coordination between the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the Departmentof Education and Training and professional units assisting the two Departments, information and communication agencies, Department of Education and Training of districts, towns and cities in organizing and directing the Board of Directors of schools to guide students, union members and team members to participate in the contest.

Talking about the 2025 Contest, the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the quality of entries through the preliminary round for judging was much higher than in 2024. Many entries were of good quality, carefully invested in both form and content, demonstrating the excellence in ideas, creativity, and great imagination of the contestants in sharing touching stories, impressive inspirational characters, and continuing stories with profound humane messages.

Many video clips show outstanding creativity, rich staging methods in terms of script, presentation, scenery, costumes, application of information technology, and integration of scenes depicting the appearance and personality of the characters illustrated by the students themselves.

Many specific plans, measures and initiatives to promote reading were developed by the students with practical feasibility and high persuasiveness to spread and develop a reading culture for the community. In particular, there were solutions to develop a reading culture for children in remote areas and children with print disabilities proposed by the contestants with many activities that were very close, natural, and suitable for their age; the students also used a combination of vivid, unique, and attractive presentation models such as: drawing illustrations, unique decorative motifs, neat handwriting, and combining the use of Braille, which truly created a profound educational meaning and a good impression for the Contest.

After 5 years of implementation, the Bac Ninh Province Reading Culture Ambassador Contest has been increasingly spread strongly and widely to schools in the area, contributing to building reading habits, raising awareness of reading culture as a premise for building a reading culture in schools and in the community. Not only stopping at building a reading culture, the contest also finds typical faces to fan the flames of passion, inspire and spread the love for books.
