Train passengers have to use umbrellas because of water leakage: What does Hanoi Metro say?

Regarding the incident of "Cat Linh - Ha Dong metro train "leaking", passengers holding umbrellas throughout the journey", Hanoi Railway One Member Co., Ltd. has provided official information about the incident.

Specifically, at around 5:20 p.m. on May 19, on Line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong, air conditioning water leaked from a passenger car on train number 1.

The company has directed the Cat Linh-Ha Dong Line 2A Operation Enterprise (Enterprise 2A) to arrange forces to discuss with passengers, promptly fix the scene, clean the train floor to continue serving passengers, then arrange the train to return to Phu Luong Depot for inspection and handling.

“According to the initial inspection report of Enterprise 2A, the cause of the water flowing in the passenger compartment was due to a fault in the air conditioning control system of train 1, causing the air conditioning water to drain unstably, leading to water flowing under a passenger car. Currently, Enterprise 2A has invited experts to coordinate with technical staff to urgently fix the problem on May 20,” informed Hanoi Railway One Member Co., Ltd.

The company has directed Enterprise 2A to continue to invite experts and technical staff to review and re-inspect technical systems, especially the entire air conditioning control system of trains on Line 2A so that trains put into operation on the line must ensure quality conditions and technical safety of operation.

The leader of Hanoi Railway Company Limited added that the trains and technical equipment systems on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong line were manufactured and brought to Vietnam since 2017.

The company is preparing a report to propose to the City People's Committee to allow the company to establish a project to renovate and train technical human resources for the train and the operating equipment system on the Cat Linh - Ha Dong urban railway line to ensure stable and long-term technical safety and environmental protection conditions for the train.

"The phenomenon of water leaking from the air conditioner causing inconvenience and unhygienic conditions for passengers is a rare and unexpected incident. Hanoi Railway One Member Co., Ltd. would like to apologize," said a representative of MRB.

Hanoi Metro leaders also pledged to fix this problem as soon as possible.
