In recent days, a video recording a foreign tourist holding a chicken by his side like a pet during his journey to explore Ha Giang has attracted the attention of the online community.
Some people were surprised by the foreign guest's strange actions, because in Vietnam, chickens are not animals that are cared for as pets.
According to the investigation, the guest appearing in the video is Henry Clare (19 years old, from England). The videos were filmed in early May when Henry and his group of friends traveled to Ha Giang.

Accompanying the group of foreign tourists this time was Nguyen Khanh, a local tour guide. Khanh said that the group of 10 tourists were all very young, coming from many regions of the UK and sharing the same interest in wanting to explore Ha Giang.
During the trip, a guest named Henry talked to Khanh about his desire to buy a small animal to take with him. Initially, he intended to buy a goat from a local. But then, Khanh took the guest to Meo Vac market to buy a chicken. It was a hen weighing more than 1.3 kg and cost 160,000 VND. Henry seemed very pleased with the animal and kept it with him throughout the trip.
When asked why, the British tourist revealed that on his previous trip to Thailand, he had visited a poultry slaughterhouse and witnessed an unpleasant scene. Therefore, on his trip to Vietnam, he wanted to have a similar small animal to accompany him.
The male tour guide observed and noticed that Henry especially loved this animal. He even let the animal stay in the same room at night. On the evening of May 3, the animal suddenly gave the group an "unexpected" gift. It was a small, pretty chicken egg.

Throughout the journey, Khanh also prepared some corn kernels and water for the chicken. Despite having a "strange guest" by their side, the group's 4-day journey went almost smoothly, without encountering any obstacles.
Sometimes, the group of guests felt tired because they were not used to sitting on a motorbike for too long (an average of 4-5 hours a day). At such times, the tour guide proactively stopped at many places for the group to rest.
With this trip, the group of guests will explore the Ha Giang loop, starting from the city center to many famous destinations such as Quan Ba Heaven Gate, Twin Mountains, Lung Khuy Cave, Tham Ma Slope, Vuong Meo House, to Lung Cu Flagpole, Ma Pi Leng, Khau Vai Love Market, Du Gia Fairy Waterfall. The trip ends in Ha Giang city, forming a loop.
"This is my first time in Ha Giang but I am really impressed with the majestic natural scenery. I will definitely come back here," said Henry.
At the end of the trip, Henry said he would continue to Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh and then visit another Southeast Asian country before returning home to continue his studies. He gave the chicken to the tour guide as a thank you gift and promised to meet again.
Henry was one of the groups of tourists who came to Ha Giang during the recent holiday. According to statistics from the Ha Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, during this time the whole province welcomed over 146,000 visitors to visit, sightsee and explore the cultural features imbued with national identity in the northernmost part of the country.
Of which, international visitors reached over 9,200. Total tourist spending in the area is estimated at over 377 billion VND.
As one of the local tour guides in Ha Giang, Nguyen Khanh believes that thanks to the development of tourism in his province, young people like him have a more stable and prosperous life. Khanh revealed that his current income has increased 3-4 times compared to before.
"If Ha Giang did not develop tourism strongly, my current job would probably still be associated with rice fields. My current job not only helps me improve my life, but is also my passion," the young tour guide confided.
