The 14th "Through the Heritage Regions of Viet Bac" program opened on the evening of September 22nd in Tuyen Quang .

The program was attended by Politburo member and Head of the Central Economic Committee Tran Tuan Anh; former leaders of the Party and State; leaders of central ministries and agencies; and leaders of the six provinces of Viet Bac: Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang , Bac Kan, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, and Cao Bang, along with a large number of people.
At the opening ceremony, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, Nguyen Van Son, emphasized that with the aspiration to develop tourism into an important economic sector, the six provinces of the former Viet Bac war zone are now striving to maximize their potential and advantages, developing tourism and continuously improving the material and spiritual lives of the people. After 14 years of rotating organization, the "Through the Heritage Regions of Viet Bac" tourism program has become an annual event, a tourism product that is increasingly establishing its brand, promoting the effective exploitation of the potential and strengths of each locality, and creating momentum for the rapid and sustainable socio-economic development of the region.

This year, the program is being held in conjunction with the Thanh Tuyen Festival, a unique and distinctive festival of Tuyen Quang, a unique tourism product initiated, preserved, and promoted by the local people. This year's festival features participation from many provinces in the region and several international localities and organizations, attracting special attention from domestic and international tourists.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet suggested that, in order for the "Through the Heritage Regions of Viet Bac" tourism program to be effective in preserving and promoting the cultural, historical, and revolutionary values of the Viet Bac War Zone, localities need to accelerate investment in building infrastructure and tourism facilities for the provinces connecting the Viet Bac heritage region; and roads leading to tourist areas, attractions, and historical and cultural relics. Priority should be given to investing in upgrading the system of clusters of revolutionary historical and cultural relics... to meet the needs of tourism development; coordinating the promotion of destinations and building tourism brands through promoting the tourism image of the Viet Bac heritage region.

At the same time, promote the socialization of tourism development activities linked with community tourism development; strengthen the application of modern information technology in tourism promotion and advertising; pay attention to protecting tourism resources and the environment, ensuring security and safety for tourists, and ensuring the sustainable exploitation of the tourism potential of the entire region.
The 14th "Through the Heritage Regions of Viet Bac" tourism program and the Thanh Tuyen Festival 2023 will run until September 27th with many unique and attractive cultural, artistic, and sporting activities for tourists, such as: the Festival of Community-Based Cultural Tourism Villages of 6 Viet Bac provinces; the Film Program - connecting heritage and tourism in Tuyen Quang; the Tuyen Quang Provincial Trade and Tourism Fair; the Exhibition and Introduction of the finest Vietnamese cuisine and the Hanoi Beer Festival; and sports competitions. These are important highlights to promote the tourism potential of each locality. Tourist areas and attractions in Tuyen Quang province organize many activities and events to create attractive playgrounds, attracting tourists to experience, learn, and explore.

The provinces of the Viet Bac war zone share many similarities in natural conditions, economy, culture, and society, as well as potential advantages for tourism development, especially historical tourism, ecotourism, resort tourism, and cultural tourism. They boast a system of important national historical sites, such as Pac Bo Revolutionary Base (Cao Bang), Tan Trao Revolutionary Base (Tuyen Quang), Dinh Hoa Revolutionary Base (Thai Nguyen), and Cho Don Revolutionary Base (Bac Kan). These are ideal locations for revolutionary education and traditions; places where the cultures of many ethnic minorities converge and intertwine, with unique customs, traditions, festivals, folk culture, cuisine, and traditional crafts. With its beautiful natural landscapes and diverse ecosystems, including primeval forests, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, and majestic caves, this region boasts famous landmarks such as: Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark, Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark (Ha Giang), Ba Be Lake (Bac Kan), Mau Son Mountain (Lang Son), Nui Coc Lake (Thai Nguyen), and Na Hang - Lam Binh National Special Scenic Area (Tuyen Quang)... It is considered an interesting and attractive destination for both domestic and international tourists.

Over 14 years of formation and development, the Program has created regional development linkages among the six provinces of Northern Vietnam. Tour routes and tourism products have been developed. The number of tourists visiting the provinces has increased. Between 2009 and 2022, the six provinces attracted over 71 million tourists, with an average growth rate of over 15% per year. Tourism social income reached over 50 trillion VND, contributing to the GRDP of each province, promoting the development of many other economic sectors, and creating many jobs for local people.
