Opening of the 2023 National Baseball Club Cup

In addition to the goal of expanding the playing field for national baseball clubs, this tournament is also an opportunity for players to exchange and compete. At the same time, through the competition results, select athletes with good achievements to supplement the force to participate in international competitions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Hoang Trung Kien - Vice President of the Vietnam Baseball and Softball Federation said that the tournament is part of the national baseball tournament system and is the second tournament of the Vietnam Baseball and Softball Federation, marking a milestone in the development of the Federation since its establishment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training Nguyen Hong Minh emphasized: "Baseball is a very popular sport in North American and East Asian countries. In Vietnam, the baseball training and competition movement has developed very well in recent years. We have established the Vietnam Baseball and Softball Federation, from which we have oriented the development of the movement and organized a number of national tournaments. With the Club Cup, this is the second time this tournament has been held and has attracted more than 220 athletes, many sponsors, news agencies and newspapers. From tournaments like this, we will create a foundation for the development of baseball in the future."

The 2023 National Baseball Club Cup will be attended by 11 teams, with more than 220 players from the North, Central and South regions. Of which, 2 teams are from Ho Chi Minh City, 2 teams are from Da Nang and 7 teams are from Hanoi .

The list of 11 competing teams includes: Hanoi Archers, Hanoi 29ers, Ho Chi Minh City Thunder, Saigon Storm, Alligators, Danang Lemaeus, Danang Whales, Hanoi Phantoms, Devil Bats, Hust Red Owls and Hanoi Amsterdam Phoenix.

In preparation for this tournament, Saigon Storm Baseball Captain - baseball player Ngo Duc Thuy shared that, despite winning the 2022 Baseball Club Cup Championship, the team is still very determined for this year's tournament and will not be complacent or rest on their laurels. "Compared to last year's tournament, this year's Organizing Committee and sponsors have invested and prepared more thoroughly from equipment, techniques to the field setup team."
