Attending the opening ceremony were representatives of leaders and reporters from major press agencies in Hanoi and more than 200 union officials and young journalists of the Government Youth Union.

Recalling the advice of President Ho Chi Minh when he was alive: “Young people will master the country. We must study forever, progress forever, to be truly young”, Mr. Vu Huy Hoang, Deputy Secretary of the Government Youth Union emphasized: The theme of the Book Festival “Lifelong learning - striving to master the future” is the inheritance and profound development of Uncle Ho's thoughts in the new context. This theme is not just a slogan, but the solution to the problem of development in the digital age, the only way for young people to change from passive, receptive to proactive, creative and leading the future.

The Deputy Secretary of the Government Youth Union also said, “This year’s Book Festival is held at a very special location – Vietnam Television, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day. This is a wonderful combination, affirming the role of knowledge and culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.”

Right after the opening ceremony, the “Young Journalists – Books and Profession” Seminar received great attention from young people. Here, the guest journalists of two generations and representatives of publishing units affirmed the irreplaceable role of books and knowledge in shaping a rich and correct worldview and outlook on life, helping to discover the inner capacity of each person.

Journalist Nguyen Thu Ha, Head of the Special Topics and Science Department, expressed her opinion: “Reading should not be forced but should be a personal need of each person. Having a good reading environment and clearly defining the purpose of reading are important factors for reading to be truly effective and meaningful.”

The talk show “Young Journalists - Books and Profession” provides a lot of interesting information about the story of reading books and the work of journalists.

From the perspective of a publishing unit, Ms. Nguyen Kim Thoa, CEO of Tan Viet Books, said: “One good thing is that the number of Vietnamese people visiting bookstores and buying books tends to increase. Along with that, the number of published books is also increasingly diverse in both genre and form such as audiobooks, printed books, e-books, etc. Although there are no complete statistics, according to observations, the rate of Vietnamese people reading books is still quite modest compared to many countries in the world. Therefore, forming the habit of reading books from a young age, right from the young generation, is extremely important.”

Along with sharing the secrets to reading effectively, “reading less but deeply”, the guests also gave suggestions to arouse the love of books, contributing to building a reading culture in modern society, especially for the young generation, including the role of the media and young journalists.

Besides the exciting exchange activities, workshops and interactive minigames, the highlight of the program is the activity "Contribute old books, build dreams", where participants can donate old books to build a youth bookshelf to give to people and children in the highlands.

During the opening ceremony, more than 1,200 books were donated. Of which, Tan Viet Books donated 500 new books, the Youth Union of Kim Dong Publishing House and the National Political Publishing House of Truth donated 400 new books. The remaining books were donated by union members and youths by exchanging old books for new ones. The Organizing Committee said that all the books donated at the Festival will be given to people and children in the highlands at the beginning of the new school year 2025-2026.
