
Attending the opening ceremony of the Exhibition were Comrade Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Comrade Salvador Valdés Mesa, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, Vice President of the Republic of Cuba; Comrade Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam, and leaders of ministries, departments, branches, and central and local associations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Comrade Hoang Trung Dung, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Communist Magazine, said that the exhibition brings together outstanding works of art by famous Cuban painters and photographers in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century. Through the works, the spirit of solidarity, attachment, affection and responsibility of the Cuban people towards the Vietnamese people in the fight against foreign invaders, gaining independence and national reunification are clearly demonstrated. Also through the works, the world understands more clearly the value of independence, freedom, justice and peace; the painful losses that the Vietnamese people had to endure from the unjust war.

Comrade Hoang Trung Dung affirmed that the Vietnam - Cuba solidarity was built by the two Parties and States from strategic decisions and nurtured by the pure, deep and sincere feelings between the people of the two countries. According to Mr. Hoang Trung Dung, in the context of the world situation with many changes, complexities and unpredictability, preserving, consolidating and developing the Vietnam - Cuba friendship is of even more strategic significance.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam Rogelio Polanco Fuentes said that the name of the exhibition “For Vietnam” is a tribute to the collection of outstanding works by more than 10 Cuban graphic designers. In the 60s and 70s, they raised their voices through their artworks, denouncing the crimes of imperialism against the Vietnamese people to the international community. According to the Cuban Ambassador, this exhibition is a vivid demonstration of the Cuban people’s deep and persistent solidarity movement for Vietnam’s heroic resistance. Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes affirmed: “The heroic victory of the Vietnamese people 50 years ago has united us today in the heroic city – Ho Chi Minh City”.
According to Ambassador Fuentes, many Cuban organizations such as the Organization of Solidarity with the Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America, the Latin American Students Organization, the Revolutionary Orientation Committee and the Cuban Institute of Arts and Cinema Industry have actively encouraged the creation and dissemination of these works rich in political and artistic values.
On this occasion, Ambassador Fuentes would like to express his sincere thanks to the Communist Magazine and the Institute for Cultural Exchange with France for their enthusiastic coordination and facilitating the organization of this meaningful event, to honor Cuban and international artists who have devoted themselves to the just cause of Vietnam.
