Opening of the Southeast region qualifying round of the Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament

The Southeast region qualifying round of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup kicked off in Ba Ria - Vung Tau , with 6 participating teams. This is an official tournament in the annual national competition system of VFF.

On the afternoon of January 4, at Bau Thanh Stadium (Long Dat District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province), the opening ceremony of the Southeast region qualifying round of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup took place.

This tournament is organized by Thanh Nien newspaper in collaboration with Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). And it is officially included in the annual national competition system of VFF and Vietnam Student Sports Tournament VUG.

The Southeast region qualifying round has 6 teams competing including: Ba Ria - Vung Tau University, Lac Hong University, Binh Duong University, Dong Nai University of Technology, Sonadezi College of Technology and Management, Lilama 2 International College of Technology.

This year's tournament has 67 participating teams, of which 66 teams compete in the qualifying round in 5 regions (only the host team Ton Duc Thang University is allowed to go straight to the final round).

There are 126 matches in total, including 101 qualifying matches and 25 final matches.

After the qualifying round, 11 teams will be selected along with the host team Ton Duc Thang University to compete in the final round from March 1 to 16.

The organizers said that this year the tournament has some new features such as: the age of players is from 18 to 25 years old, each team can register a maximum of 3 players who have competed in national U19 and U21 tournaments from 2022 to present and a maximum of 5 foreign students (who have never competed in national tournaments organized by VFF).

Each match can only have on the field a maximum of 2 out of 3 players who have played in the U19, U21 tournaments and a maximum of 3 foreign players.

The champion team of the 3rd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2025 THACO Cup will receive the trophy, honorary plaque, gold medal and a prize of 300 million VND. The runner-up team will receive an honorary plaque, silver medal and a prize of 150 million VND,...
