Opening of the Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence, Hai Phong Medical University Hospital
(Haiphong.gov.vn) – On the afternoon of February 24, Hai Phong Medical University Hospital held the opening ceremony of the Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence. Attending the opening ceremony were: Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Technology and Training; Dr. Ta Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Department of Drug Administration, Ministry of Health ; Pharmacist Specialist II Nguyen Tien Son, Deputy Director of Hai Phong Department of Health; leaders of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy and related units.

At the Conference, Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health , awarded the Decision to grant the Certificate of “Good Clinical Practice (GCP)” to Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy. This is an important basis for the Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence to officially come into operation.

The Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence, Hai Phong Medical University Hospital includes two main units: the clinical research unit and the analysis unit. In which, the clinical research unit has a total area of 1,100m2 on the 11th floor of Hai Phong Medical University Hospital, with 36 beds for volunteers, equipped with modern facilities. The staff includes 83 doctors, nurses, technicians from 19 departments and rooms at Hai Phong Medical University Hospital and 23 specialized researchers with deep expertise (2 Associate Professors, 4 Doctors, 8 Masters), rich clinical experience and trained in GCP, Safety.
The Center has the function of researching and implementing activities in the field of clinical drug trials in phases 1, 2, 3, 4 and bioequivalence assessment, biosimilar assessment; providing information and instructions on rational, safe, effective drug use, and treatment optimization when requested by state management agencies...

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, highly appreciated the dedication and investment of the leaders of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in establishing and developing the Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence. The Center is of great significance in developing new drugs, new methods, new treatment techniques, meeting the needs of protecting and caring for people's health. In addition, the Center will also promote the effectiveness of training medical human resources for Hai Phong city in particular and the Northeastern provinces in general. The Ministry of Health assessed this as a success of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy, and at the same time expected the Center to coordinate with the Vietnamese health system to participate in the research and development of new drugs, traditional medicine, vaccines... as well as other biological products to serve the needs of medical examination and treatment for people; The Center can participate in multi-center, multinational projects to develop new drugs, especially in the fields of multi-immunology, regenerative medicine, personalized medicine, etc.
The establishment of the Center for Clinical Trials and Bioequivalence is an important milestone in the 45-year journey of construction and development of Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in the work of caring for and protecting the health of the city's people.
