Urgently establish a Steering Committee for key provincial projects.

On December 15th, the Standing Committee of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee held a combined in-person and online meeting to hear a report from the Provincial People's Committee Party Committee on the situation and results of the province's economic growth (GRDP) and the progress of implementing projects and the disbursement of public investment funds in 2025; and to propose tasks and solutions to promote economic growth (GRDP), accelerate the implementation of investment projects and disburse public investment funds in the province in the coming period.

The Provincial Party Secretary, Tran Van Lau, chaired the meeting; comrades Ho Thi Hoang Yen, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Tran Tri Quang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, conducted the meeting.

Comrade Tran Van Lau - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - chaired the meeting; Comrade Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Comrade Tran Tri Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - presided over the meeting. Also attending were members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; the Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of provincial departments and agencies.

According to the report of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee, in 2025, the province's economy will continue to grow; the agricultural sector will be gradually restructured towards increasing value, efficiency, and sustainable development. The economic scale will expand, with current GRDP increasing by 9.44% compared to 2024. GRDP per capita is estimated at VND 82.25 million, an increase of 8.84% compared to 2024. The province's economic structure will continue to shift in a positive direction, in line with the orientation of gradually increasing the proportion of industry, construction, and services, while gradually reducing dependence on agriculture; the proportion of the non-agricultural economic sector will increase by 0.65 percentage points compared to the previous year. However, to date, the province's GRDP growth and the progress of disbursing public investment capital are still not high.

At the conference, delegates attending in person and at remote locations in communes and wards actively discussed and presented the advantages, difficulties, and obstacles; and proposed many solutions to promote GRDP growth in the coming period and effectively implement the plan for disbursing public investment capital, and accelerate the progress of implementing projects.

Concluding the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Tran Van Lau requested that all efforts be focused on overcoming difficulties and accelerating the disbursement of public investment capital; and that attention be paid to effectively carrying out land clearance work. The Fatherland Front and political and social organizations need to do a good job of propaganda and mobilization to create consensus among the people. He urged the prompt establishment of the Steering Committee for key provincial projects and its supporting teams. At the same time, he called for a review of technical infrastructure to create favorable conditions for project construction; improving the quality of design consulting; selecting contractors with sufficient capacity; and strengthening inspection and supervision.

The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that in 2026, all sectors and localities must include in their annual investment plans key areas such as wind power, renewable energy, public investment, high-tech agriculture, deep processing, trade and services, tourism, and information infrastructure… in order to create a foundation for GRDP growth. At the same time, a change in mindset is needed in leadership, administration, and management; clear assignment of responsibilities to the right people, setting deadlines, and evaluating performance through specific results; and strengthening inspection and supervision of the implementation of the province's policies and resolutions.
