Khanh Hoa: Anniversary of the founder of the bird's nest industry with a history of hundreds of years

On June 27, at Hon Noi Island, Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Festival - Anniversary of the Salanganes Nest Industry took place to pay tribute to the Founder, the Holy Mother and the predecessors of the Salanganes Nest Industry; with the participation of nearly 700 people working in the salanganes nest industry inside and outside the province.

According to historical records, in 1328, Navy Admiral Le Van Dat (during the Tran Dynasty) was the one who discovered the islands where swiftlets nested in the Binh Khang sea area (today's swiftlet island). He was honored as the founder of the Vietnamese bird's nest industry.

The successors of the founder were An Phu Su Binh Khang Le Van Quang, Dinh Truong Bich Dam and his daughter Le Thi Huyen Tram, Grand Admiral of Tay Son Navy - who took on the mission of protecting and developing the swallow islands. In particular, everyone did not forget to engrave the 10th day of the 5th lunar month in 1793 - the day Grand Admiral Le Thi Huyen Tram, her father and the generals sacrificed their lives in the war to protect sovereignty and the swallow islands. Since then, people have honored her as the Holy Mother of the Island and built a temple on the swallow island.
