This decision was made after the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinated with relevant units to conduct a field survey and assess the current status of the embankment and slope works in the Xuan Huong Lake area.
Accordingly, the embankment system was built in 1998 and repaired and reinforced in 2010, and is now degraded and damaged in many locations, especially the area in front of Lam Vien Square. This situation causes unsafety for the construction, affects the urban beauty and poses a risk of landslides during the rainy and stormy season.

Faced with that situation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has proposed the Provincial People's Committee to assign the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1 to propose an investment policy for the project to repair and renovate the embankment and taluy system around Xuan Huong Lake, to ensure safety and enhance the landscape value in accordance with regulations.

Xuan Huong Lake is a national scenic relic. This is also a project that plays an extremely important role in reducing floods, regulating the climate, and creating a tourist highlight in the central area of Da Lat. The renovation and upgrading of the embankment and slope system around the lake is necessary to preserve the relic, ensure the safety of the dam, the beauty and contribute to the socio- economic development of the locality.
