On October 23, the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat ( Lam Dong Province) announced that it had officially closed Tran Quoc Toan walking street, the road along Xuan Huong Lake on the side of Cu Hill in Da Lat, after more than a year of pilot implementation.
According to the ward, the initial goal is to form more tourism products, creating a buffer zone before tourists blend into the crowded space around Da Lat market.
However, actual records show that the number of people participating in activities here is not high, while closing a section of the lakeside road from Friday to Sunday evening (6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.) every week disrupts traffic, causing overload on some neighboring routes.
Tran Quoc Toan walking street was inaugurated on the evening of June 7, 2024, about 1.6km long, from the intersection of Dinh Tien Hoang - Tran Quoc Toan to the intersection of Tran Nhan Tong - Tran Quoc Toan (in front of Da Lat flower garden).
This space has hosted many activities such as mass performances, exchanges between music groups, artistic roller skating, martial arts performances, painting and photography, handicrafts, etc.

The difference of the route is that there are no houses on both sides of the road, one side is Cu Hill, the other side is Xuan Huong Lake, creating a walking strip along the lake, connecting with the night food area of Da Lat flower garden, Lam Vien square and Da Lat market. The expectation is to form a chain of entertainment - cultural - culinary activities to stimulate tourism, contributing to local services.
However, after a period of operation, the effectiveness of attracting tourists did not meet expectations, while traffic pressure on weekends increased.
According to the People's Committee of Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat, stopping the above walking route is considered a necessary adjustment based on actual exploitation data, aiming to balance the goal of developing tourism products and the requirement of organizing traffic during peak hours on weekends in the center of Da Lat.
