Classrooms are clean, desks and chairs are neat, and learning spaces are safe. Schools are continuing to count the number of students severely affected to have timely and appropriate support measures.

Lam Hung Primary School (Tam Hung Village School), Ham Thuan Commune is a school that was heavily affected by the recent floods. The entire school yard was flooded, and 4 classrooms were flooded with about 0.5m of water. The school had to let students take a day off on December 4-5 to ensure safety.

Immediately after the water receded, more than 40 teachers and local forces urgently cleaned up, cleared mud and cleaned the school grounds and classrooms. Before students returned to school, the local health sector sprayed disinfectant to ensure a safe learning environment. After much effort, on the morning of December 8, all 294 students of the school returned to school, ensuring attendance.

According to the reporter, during the flag-raising ceremony at the beginning of the week, the school informed all teachers and students about the flood situation in Ham Thuan commune and neighboring localities. The school instructed students on skills to prevent accidents during floods, and advised them not to go near ponds, stagnant water areas, and landslide areas to ensure safety and prevent epidemics. In some classes, homeroom teachers grasped the situation of students affected, lost learning tools and deployed initial support for them to continue studying.

Principal of Lam Hung Primary School Dinh Minh Tri said that most of the students in the school are from Tam Hung village - a deeply flooded and heavily damaged area of Ham Thuan commune.
Through the review, 17 students were affected and in need of support with books, learning tools, and uniforms. The school is calling on benefactors and sponsors to support the students with textbooks, learning tools, and uniforms, ensuring they can go to school. The school has a plan to make up for the time the students are absent from school due to the flood, ensuring the program framework ends the first semester on January 18.

At Xuan My Primary School, Ham Thang Ward, on the morning of December 8, 422 students from 5 grades returned to school after days off to avoid flooding to ensure absolute safety for teachers and students. During the rainy and flood days, the school was used as a place to stay for about 700 people in Phu Xuan, Phu My, Ham Thang Ward.

When the water receded and people returned home, with the support of local forces and authorities, teachers and students of Xuan My Primary School quickly cleaned up, rearranged desks and chairs, and cleaned classrooms. The school coordinated with the local health sector to disinfect the entire campus to ensure the safety of students when they returned to school.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ngan, Principal of Xuan My Primary School, shared that due to regular updates on weather forecasts and the actual situation after the previous flood (in October 2025), the school proactively moved furniture and teaching aids to higher areas; arranged teachers to coordinate with functional forces to be on duty according to actual developments, so no damage was recorded.

Although the flood recovery work has been basically completed, Xuan My Primary School has determined that many students will still face difficulties in the first days because many teachers and students in the school were affected by this flood. Preliminary statistics show that the whole school has 90 students affected by the recent flood. Most of their clothes, books and school supplies were swept away by the water.

In addition, 10 teachers' houses were severely flooded, eroded, and damaged. While waiting for support from the locality, the school proactively called on teachers in the school to make efforts to overcome difficulties to ensure teaching and learning. Homeroom teachers mobilized resources to ensure that affected students had at least one notebook and one uniform to go to school. The school researched and calculated that it would photocopy textbooks in time to support students in stabilizing their studies, and plan to make up for lost lessons to supplement students' knowledge.

According to the People's Committee of Lam Dong province, due to the impact of bad weather and floods, from December 3 to 5, the whole province had 6,1959 houses affected, flooded mainly in the localities: Ham Thang, Ham Liem, Ham Thuan, Luong Son, Song Luy... Thousands of households in riverside and low-lying areas had to evacuate. The whole province had 4,128 hectares of agricultural production flooded, 24 fishing boats broke anchor and sank, 10 fish ponds and lakes were damaged. The initial estimated damage was more than 113 billion VND.
