Lam Dong stops investment policy for Phan Thiet airport project under BOT form

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee, the Phan Thiet airport project was approved by the People's Committee of Binh Thuan province (old) in 2014 with a total investment capital of more than 1,693 billion VND, the scale of a level 4C airport.

However, after 9 years of implementation, the project has only stopped at the investment preparation and site clearance stages, and has not created momentum for socio-economic development in the area.

Up to now, the detailed planning of Phan Thiet Airport has been adjusted to level 4E, becoming a domestic airport for shared civil and military use, so the BOT investment form is no longer suitable.

In August 2025, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee reported to the Prime Minister to terminate the BOT form and switch to investment under the Investment Law.

In September 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha agreed to allow localities to terminate BOT contracts and adjust investment policies according to regulations.

The Provincial People's Council believes that stopping the investment policy of Phan Thiet airport project under the BOT form is necessary, within the authority, in accordance with the new planning, the Party's policy, current laws and the actual conditions of the locality.

Delegates voted to approve the dismissal of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee members Phan The Hanh and Nguyen Nhan Ban. — *Delegates voted to pass the resolution at the 4th session.*

At the 4th session, the People's Council of Lam Dong province, term X, 2021-2026, voted to pass a resolution on stopping the investment policy of the Phan Thiet airport construction project (formerly Binh Thuan province) - civil aviation category under the form of BOT contract.

The Provincial People's Council assigned the Provincial People's Committee to organize the implementation of the resolution and the Standing Committee of the People's Council, committees and delegation groups to supervise the implementation according to regulations.
