In 2025, Quang Ninh province adopted the theme "Breakthrough in economic development, creating momentum for a new term," striving to achieve a GRDP growth rate of over 12%... Adhering closely to the set goals, from the very first days of the new year, the province has witnessed vibrant production, business, tourism, and service activities, promising a positive contribution to economic growth in 2025.
Early on January 29th (the first day of the Lunar New Year 2025), Quang Ninh province recorded positive signs as it continuously welcomed groups of international tourists visiting and relaxing. Notably, the Silver Dawn cruise ship, carrying over 500 international tourists from European and American countries, docked at Ha Long International Cruise Port. Upon arrival, Mr. Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee, warmly welcomed the tourists with a special traditional ceremony – wishing them a Happy New Year, presenting flowers and lucky money to the first visitors, and thanking them for choosing Quang Ninh as their destination. Also on the first day of the new year, Ha Long City organized a welcoming ceremony for groups of tourists at Tuan Chau International Cruise Port, with over 2,500 domestic and international visitors. In Mong Cai City, early on the first day of the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), 350 tourists were the first to enter Vietnam through the Mong Cai International Border Gate. During the immigration process, provincial authorities provided detailed guidance, followed proper procedures, and assisted tourists in completing the entry procedures quickly. Expressing their appreciation and hospitality, the leaders of Mong Cai City welcomed the tourists, presented them with flowers and lucky money, and offered best wishes for the new year.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, Quang Ninh also welcomed a large number of domestic tourists who came to visit, experience, and worship at the beginning of spring, especially at tourist destinations, historical sites, and spiritual sites such as: Cua Ong Temple (Cam Pha City), Yen Tu Scenic Area (Uong Bi City), Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghien Temple, Long Tien Pagoda (Ha Long City), Cai Bau Pagoda (Van Don District)... Ms. Hai Long (a tourist from Yen Bai) said: "Quang Ninh has many beautiful landscapes, many famous historical sites and scenic spots. Visiting Quang Ninh at the beginning of the year, my family felt peaceful and enjoyed quality services. Although we came to Quang Ninh in winter, tourism was still very vibrant with a variety of activities... I believe Quang Ninh will continue to be an ideal destination for tourists in all seasons of the year."
During the Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake 2025 (from the 26th day of the 12th lunar month to the 5th day of the 1st lunar month), the entire province received 969,000 tourists, an increase of 21% compared to the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024. Of these, 228,700 were international tourists and 740,300 were domestic tourists. International overnight stays totaled 140,572. Total tourism revenue reached 2,600 billion VND, an increase of 43% compared to the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024... This promising start to the year indicates a "new wave" that promises a breakthrough for Quang Ninh's tourism industry in 2025, with the expectation of reaching 20 million tourists, including 4.5 million international visitors.
Along with trade, services, and tourism, production and business activities were vibrant during the Lunar New Year holiday. At the Bac Luan II Bridge Border Gate (Mong Cai City), import and export activities resumed after the two-day Lunar New Year break. On the first day of reopening, the Bac Luan II Bridge Border Gate received 22 businesses, processing 113 customs declarations and 112 trucks exporting fresh seafood and agricultural products to China. The total volume of exported goods reached 752 tons (368 tons of seafood; 384 tons of agricultural products), with a total export value exceeding 9.3 million USD, approximately five times higher than in 2024. Customs clearance procedures were processed quickly by the relevant authorities. In addition, on January 31st and February 1st (the 3rd and 4th days of the Lunar New Year of the Snake), at Cai Lan Port, companies continuously welcomed ships for cargo handling. These included the Sendai Spirit carrying 38,000 tons of wood chips for export and the Oriental Breeze carrying 35,000 tons of wood chips for export; the Alba, a Bahamas-flagged vessel, transporting over 36,000 tons of imported wheat; and the Stamina Diva, a Panama-flagged vessel, transporting over 30,000 tons of imported corn… Despite the Tet holiday, companies arranged sufficient personnel and equipment to ensure smooth cargo handling and ship turnaround according to schedule…
In the joyful atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, coal industry units arranged personnel to maintain on-call duty and production throughout the Tet holiday. In particular, on February 1st (the 4th day of Tet), many open-pit coal production units of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) simultaneously resumed production for the new year. By January 4th (the 6th day of the first lunar month), workers at these units had returned to work in full force, with a vibrant and urgent production spirit in the early days of the new year, creating momentum to help TKV achieve its 2025 target of producing 36.85 million tons of clean coal; consuming 50 million tons of coal; and contributing 25,500 billion VND to the state budget. Simultaneously, key construction sites and projects maintained their construction pace, taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to accelerate progress and ensure the set deadlines were met…
Following the long Lunar New Year holiday, agencies, units, and businesses have resumed work and production with seriousness and enthusiasm, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere right from the beginning of the year, contributing together to achieving the province's overall socio-economic development goals and tasks for 2025.
