This project is part of the overall plan to upgrade Dong Hoi airport infrastructure, including the construction of terminal T2 and expansion of the aircraft parking lot.

Terminal T2 is built on an area of over 106,000 m2, of which the terminal area is nearly 12,000 m2, with 2 floors combined with a mezzanine, with separate departure and arrival elevations. In addition, the project also has a system of multi-level roads, a car park of over 74,000 m2 and a green area and landscape of over 6,500 m2.

The new terminal is designed to serve 3 million domestic passengers per year, with a maximum capacity of 1,200 passengers per peak hour. It is expected that after 2030, the terminal can be expanded to serve 5 million passengers per year.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee Doan Ngoc Lam said that Dong Hoi Airport currently has only one passenger terminal T1 with a designed capacity of 500,000 passengers/year. However, in recent years, the number of passengers passing through the airport has exceeded the designed capacity. Therefore, the groundbreaking of the T2 Passenger Terminal construction project is very necessary to meet the transportation needs and improve the quality of passenger services at Dong Hoi Airport.

According to ACV, Terminal T1 is currently overloaded with a design capacity of only 500,000 passengers/year, but is expected to reach nearly 1 million passengers by the end of 2025. The groundbreaking of Terminal T2 will meet the increasing transportation demand, improve service quality and ensure synchronization with the planning of the airport system development until 2050.

ACV commits to focusing resources to implement the project on schedule, comply with legal regulations, ensure labor safety and environmental sanitation.
