The glorious achievements of the female guerrilla team
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut, a poor girl who had to work as a servant since childhood, soon awakened to revolutionary ideals and became an experienced guerrilla fighter, achieving many glorious feats. Ms. Ut is the main character in the work "The Mother with a Gun" by writer Nguyen Thi, famous for the simple saying "I will fight even if I have the hem of my pants", expressing the indomitable fighting spirit of the people of the South.
Ut was born in 1931 in Tam Ngai commune, Cau Ke district, former Tra Vinh province. During the revolutionary struggle until her death in November 1968, Ut, together with the local guerrilla forces and our main force, fought steadfastly, intelligently, and bravely against the enemy in 23 battles. Of these, 8 were during the anti-French period, killing and injuring more than 200 enemies, capturing 70 guns, and foiling many enemy sweeps.
During the fierce resistance war against the French, the situation between us and the enemy was not balanced, but Ut was still undaunted and fought steadfastly, as shown in the saying: "They attack us, we attack them". At this time, Ut took on the task of liaison, reconnaissance, grasping the situation, reporting timely information, our main force troops coordinated with local guerrilla forces to cause many losses to the enemy.
During the period 1950-1953, the battlefield situation in the communes of Tam Ngai, Cau Ke, An Phu Tan was extremely fierce, many of our officers and soldiers were sacrificed. Being hunted down by the enemy, Ut had to carry her child to Dong Thap province to hide. Here, Ut contacted our base, joined her comrades in destroying bridges and attacking enemy posts.

Following the fighting example of Ut, during the resistance war against the US to save the country, many women voluntarily joined the commune guerrilla team to fight the enemy. Therefore, the superiors allowed Tam Ngai commune to establish a female guerrilla team, Ut was appointed as a squad leader, commanding many battles, contributing to the depletion of enemy forces.
In 1964 and 1965, while Ut was pregnant, she still joined the commune guerrilla force to attack Ba My post, Thanh Phu, intercepting an enemy regiment landing in Tan Dinh hamlet and achieving a great victory. In addition, Ut also mobilized mothers and sisters to organize revolutionary propaganda and participate in military work.
Ms. Tran Thanh Hong, the person in charge of reconnaissance and protection of female hero martyr Nguyen Thi Ut, shared: Ut devoted her whole life to the cause of national liberation. In fighting the enemy, Ut was a brave, resourceful, and talented soldier, many times leading troops to destroy enemy posts and forts, taking their guns without firing a single bullet.
