Prosecution and temporary detention of a group of young men who slashed the wrong person, causing 44% injury

On October 26, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police announced that it had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and executed an arrest warrant to detain Vo Tan Loi (born in 2009), Huynh Khanh Qui (born in 2008), Bui Anh Hao (born in 2006), Cao Bui Thanh Tai (born in 2007) and Tran Minh Tri (born in 2006), all residing in Chau Doc ward, to investigate the act of "Intentionally causing injury".

At the same time, an order was issued prohibiting Pham Anh Tien (born in 2010), Dang Quoc Kiet (born in 2007), Huynh Phuc Huu (born in 2009), Huynh Thanh Khang (born in 2007) and Nguyen Thanh Trung (born in 2009); Nguyen Van Khanh (born in 2006) from leaving their place of residence. Le Van Dang Khoa and Nguyen Hoang Khang (both born in 2008) are currently being detained due to their involvement in another case.

According to the investigation, due to a conflict with Nguyen Van Chal's group in Vinh Te ward, at around 10:00 p.m. on May 31, 2025, Loi's group of 13 people (all residing in Chau Doc ward) invited each other to bring knives and beer bottles to find Chal's group to resolve the conflict. When they reached Pham Van Bach street, the group met T. (born in 2007, residing in Vinh Te ward), thinking he was from Chal's group, so they blocked the car. Khoa threw a beer bottle at T., Loi used a knife to slash T.'s head, causing 44% injury.

After realizing they had hacked the wrong person, the group left. The victim was taken to the emergency room by local residents and the police were notified.

The case is currently being further investigated and handled by the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police according to the provisions of law.
