These pages use the name, image and logo of the Mobile Police force to create trust, attract followers, and at the same time spread unverified content, causing misunderstandings among the public. Notably, the subjects also lure viewers to access strange links or provide personal information, potentially causing the risk of fraud and property appropriation.
In An Giang province, a number of parents in Rach Gia ward were lured into participating in an “experience program” introduced to be held at Rach Gia ward police station. When registering, the subjects asked for personal information of children and relatives, showing signs of taking advantage to commit illegal acts.
The Mobile Police Department of An Giang Province Police confirmed that it did not organize any program called "No Touch Screen with Mobile Police". It is recommended that people, especially parents, be vigilant, not access strange links; not provide personal information to accounts of unknown origin; not transfer money or register to participate in "programs" promoted through social networks; when detecting fake pages, immediately report to the nearest police agency for guidance and handling.
An Giang Provincial Police recommend that people regularly verify information through official channels of the Ministry of Public Security and local police to avoid being exploited and scammed.
