No Wi-Fi 7 support, Microsoft makes it difficult for Windows 10 users

According to BGR , a new leaked document from Intel shows that Windows 10 will not support Wi-Fi 7. This means Windows users will need to upgrade to Windows 11 if they want to take advantage of the new Wi-Fi 7 driver in the future.

Microsoft wants to entice users to switch to the more modern Windows 11

A leak shared on X by member @g01d3nm4ng0 suggests that Microsoft has not yet certified Wi-Fi 7 drivers for Windows 10, so the company will block the ability to access Wi-Fi 7 networks to take advantage of the improved speed and reliability of this wireless network.

The question is, why should anyone care about Wi-Fi 7? For the average user, it probably won’t make much of a difference. However, those who rely on the internet to download and upload large files for work will find that Wi-Fi 7 offers some major benefits, including faster processing speeds.

In fact, the current versions of Wi-Fi — Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6E — are only set to support speeds of up to 9.6 Gbps. MediaTek, meanwhile, says Wi-Fi 7 will support speeds of up to 36 Gbps, which is significantly faster than current Wi-Fi options. That means Wi-Fi will be one step closer to being as efficient and fast as a wired connection — a huge boon for a world that needs to stay constantly connected.

Windows 10 users no longer getting Wi-Fi 7 support is no surprise, as Microsoft reportedly plans to end support for Windows 10 in 2021, with the deadline set for October 2025. By not certifying Wi-Fi 7 drivers for Windows 10, Microsoft will be pushing even more users to Windows 11.
