For more than 6 years, Mr. Teo has been involved in volunteer work, fixing tires for free for people on the road.

Command from the heart

For the past 6 years, whenever he receives any phone call, day or night, rain or shine, even if the distance is several dozen kilometers, potentially dangerous, Mr. Teo (real name Luc Minh Anh) does not hesitate, immediately sets out to help those who are unfortunate enough to have their vehicle broken down on the road.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Khang (Ben Luc town, Ben Luc district) shared: “My family had an urgent matter so I had to leave late at night, unfortunately the tire broke down. While I was wondering what to do, I remembered Mr. Teo's phone number. I was embarrassed but didn't know who to ask, so I had to ask him. However, he was very cheerful and enthusiastic even though I was disturbed in the middle of the night."

In all those years of working as a free tire repairman, Mr. Teo can't remember how many cases of car breakdowns he has helped at night, all of them are free, except for cases where the tire tube needs to be replaced, he charges a fee equal to the investment. When he meets someone in real difficulty, he gives them the money for the tube, and even supports them with gas money and food expenses so they can continue their journey home safely.

Teo's joy, happiness and smile are very simple, seeing people on the road have a "thousand miles of peace" journey makes him happy. Teo confided: "Sometimes in one night I support nearly 20 cases of broken vehicles, it's tiring but very fun! When people are in trouble, I help them in any way I can!"

Regardless of day or night, as long as he receives a phone call, Mr. Teo still enthusiastically supports people with vehicle problems at night.

Mr. Teo is one of 20 members of the SOS Ben Luc Free Tire Repair Team. Over the years of operation, many people have joined the team, and many have left because of the burden of making a living. Only Mr. Teo is the most veteran and has been with the team the longest. After his daily life, at around 6 p.m., he rides his tricycle with a bunch of tools to Co.opmart Ben Luc, starting a night of supporting people who have unfortunately had an accident.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tan (member of the SOS Ben Luc Free Tire Repair Team) confided: “We all have to earn a living and take care of our families, so we don’t have time to join the team. Only on holidays and Tet do we have time to help Mr. Teo patch tires for free for people on the road.”

On holidays and Tet, Mr. Teo also pulls a cart to suck up nails, hoping to help people return home safely.

In addition to providing free tire repair services, Mr. Teo is also known as a "hero" who catches robbers. He does not remember how many robbers he has helped catch, or how many certificates of merit he has received from various levels and sectors in and outside the province. He only knows that when someone needs it, he is ready to help.

Mr. Teo added: "Catching robbers is very dangerous. Many times when catching criminals, I fell and damaged my motorbike, but I found the job meaningful so I did it."

Ambulance 0 VND

Looking at the tattoos on his body, some people are afraid and think that Teo is a "gangster". However, behind that tattoo is a story. He said: "When my mother was alive, I was too busy playing around and couldn't take care of her. When she passed away, I regretted it and chose to get a tattoo to remind myself to live a decent and useful life so that my mother could pass away peacefully."

Looking back on his volunteer journey after all this time, Mr. Teo still has concerns because nearly 15 years have passed but the wound in his heart still burns when someone mentions his mother. Then somewhere, when he sees people in traffic accidents that the ambulance has not arrived in time or victims in pain and despair, the image of his mother from years ago comes back, making his heart ache, feeling helpless.

Teo’s mother had a heart valve defect, the ambulance could not arrive in time and she passed away. Since then, he has always dreamed of a “zero-cost” ambulance. Understanding Teo’s heart, many people have joined him in making his dream come true. From here, he has helped many cases in need of an ambulance, saving the lives of patients.

Besides the hustle and bustle of life, Mr. Teo still quietly does charity work. For him, he does not wait until he is rich to help people, but helps with whatever he has, as much as he can./.
