Ho Chi Minh City's Tan Son Nhat domestic terminal may be congested during Tet, with passengers having to wait longer than usual for security checks and baggage claims, according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
On January 20, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that during this year's Tet holiday, the number of flights and passengers through airports increased compared to last year, especially at Tan Son Nhat airport.

Vietnam Airports Corporation recommends that to avoid overloading and congestion in public lobby areas at major airports, passengers should limit the number of family members picking them up and not arrive too early compared to departure time.
Passengers check in 120 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 180 minutes for international flights. Check-in counters close 40 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 50 minutes for international flights, and boarding gates close 15 minutes before departure.
Tan Son Nhat Airport has a designed capacity of 28 million passengers per year. In 2019, the number of passengers passing through the port was more than 41.2 million. In 2022, the number of passengers will reach 34 million, causing overload of terminal, airport and air traffic control infrastructure.
Noi Bai Airport has a designed capacity of 25 million passengers per year. In 2023, the number of passengers passing through the port will be nearly 30 million.
