Control food safety of food service and street food around school gates

The subjects applying the above model are food service businesses and street food establishments around school gates, including: restaurants, food shops, cooked food stalls, street vendors, etc.

The scope of the model implementation in Hang Trong ward is the area around the schools: Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, Trang An Primary School, August Kindergarten, Hoan Kiem Secondary School; the entire Nha Chung Street, Nha Tho Street, Ly Quoc Su Street; the square in front of the Cathedral; the section of Quang Trung Street opposite Tay Son Flower Garden.

Hanoi controls food safety in catering services and street food around school gates.

In Trang Tien ward, the area around Tran Phu High School; the entire Trang Tien alley; the section from Nguyen Khac Can street to Phan Chu Trinh street; the section from Hai Ba Trung street to Trang Tien alley.

The Hanoi Food Safety and Hygiene Department, Hoan Kiem district, Hang Trong and Trang Tien wards have proactively developed a plan to implement the model.

Hoan Kiem District organized a conference to deploy the plan to local departments and organizations and street food service establishments participating in the model with a total of 150 participants. At the same time, the district reviewed, counted, and classified all street food service establishments around school gates in Trang Tien Ward and Hang Trong Ward.

After screening, there were 81 restaurants, food stores and 24 street food establishments and 25 establishments were assigned to the city level to manage; 46 establishments were assigned to the district level to manage; and 34 establishments were assigned to the ward level to manage.

Hanoi Food Safety Department coordinated with Hoan Kiem district to organize a food safety knowledge assessment for 200 food producers and traders.

As a result, 167/200 people (83.5%) were assessed to have knowledge of food safety; 2 training courses were organized for owners and processing staff of 105 establishments around school gates in Trang Tien and Hang Trong wards; 4 direct propaganda sessions were organized for 240 food traders and consumers.

In addition, there were 5 talks and seminars on food safety, information about the food safety control model around school gates at 5 schools implementing the model: Tran Quoc Toan Primary School, Trang An Primary School, August Kindergarten, Hoan Kiem Secondary School and Tran Phu High School.

The units organized the printing and distribution of 1,000 leaflets providing instructions on food safety regulations for food services and street food at establishments around the school.

The Hanoi Food Safety Department has collected 50 food samples (20 samples of ready-to-eat food, 20 samples of prepackaged food, food packaging and storage equipment, 10 samples of sellers' hands) from food service establishments and street food vendors around school gates in Trang Tien and Hang Trong wards for testing.
