This morning, May 16, in Tam Ky City, the Quang Nam Province Cooperative Alliance held a member conference to summarize the collective economic situation and cooperatives in the province in 2024 and set out tasks for 2025; at the same time, summarize the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020 - 2025.
Attending the conference were Mr. Dinh Hong Thai - Vice Chairman of Vietnam Cooperative Alliance; Tran Xuan Vinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ho Quang Buu - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of departments, branches, localities and cooperatives in the province.
Increase of 312 cooperatives compared to 2020
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Le Ngoc Trung - Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Cooperative Union assessed that in 2024, the collective economic sector and cooperatives of the province achieved important results.
The provincial Cooperative Union has advised on the establishment of 43 new cooperatives. Up to now, the whole province has 667 cooperatives and 1 cooperative union operating in various fields of social life.
Cooperatives have made practical contributions to the socio-economic development of the province, especially the new rural construction program, civilized urban construction, agricultural restructuring program, OCOP program...
"Through their activities, cooperatives have affirmed their important role not only in production and business, but also become an important factor contributing to ensuring social security and political stability at the grassroots level," Mr. Trung emphasized.
Presenting the summary report of the emulation and reward movement for the period 2020 - 2025, the leaders of the Provincial Cooperative Union assessed that the collective economy and cooperatives of the province have developed quite strongly in both quantity and quality.
Accordingly, the number of newly established cooperatives increased from 315 to 667, an increase of 111% (an increase of 312 cooperatives compared to the beginning of 2020).
In 132 communes recognized as meeting new rural standards (40 advanced new rural communes and 8 model new rural communes), there are cooperatives participating in the new rural construction program in the communes; 136/386 subjects are cooperatives and cooperative groups with products registered for the OCOP program, with 179 products participating in the evaluation achieving 3 - 4 stars.
In 2024, with the advice and guidance of the Provincial Cooperative Union and district agencies, cooperatives accessed policy mechanisms in the spirit of Resolution No. 25 of the Provincial People's Council with a total amount of more than 1.1 billion VND.
The Provincial Cooperative Development Support Fund has been operating under the model of a 100% state-owned single-member limited liability company since January 1, 2024; during the year, it disbursed capital to 111 loan units with a total amount of VND 48.6 billion, reaching 108% of the annual plan assigned by the Provincial People's Committee, with outstanding loans as of December 31, 2024 being VND 113.4 billion.
Great room for growth
At the conference, delegates listened to many presentations from typical cooperatives and credit funds. Thereby, they could recognize and evaluate the actual results achieved and draw lessons to continue to improve the orientation and propose solutions for effective implementation in the coming time.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu said that in the period of 2020 - 2025, the whole province increased by 312 cooperatives, which is a "speaking number"; at the same time, he assessed that the space and potential for collective economic development and cooperatives in Quang Nam is very large, when the whole province currently has more than 29,000 cooperatives - a premise for the establishment of new cooperatives.
In particular, the potential when merging new administrative units for developing trade, services, tourism, resources from national planning... Accordingly, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu suggested a number of issues for the Provincial Cooperative Union and its member cooperatives and enterprises to study, prepare, and anticipate in order to strongly develop the collective economy and cooperatives in the coming time.
Praising the Quang Nam Province Cooperative Alliance and collectives and individuals, Mr. Dinh Hong Thai - Vice President of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance said that the period 2025 - 2030 is identified as an important period, the beginning of the country's rise.
Therefore, the Quang Nam Provincial Cooperative Union and its member units need to pay attention to a number of issues, which are to focus on strengthening training and capacity building for cooperative management staff, cooperative unions, cooperative groups, and member enterprises to meet development requirements in the context of digital transformation and international integration. Quickly implement the merger of new units according to regulations to stabilize and organize activities soon.
"The Alliance and its member units need to encourage innovation, apply information technology in management and production, improve the quality of cooperative products, especially digital transformation in production, business and management of cooperatives, cooperative groups and enterprises. At the same time, promote links between cooperatives and enterprises to create sustainable value chains, enhance competitiveness in the market..." - Mr. Thai noted.
At the conference, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance awarded the Emulation Flag to Dien Duong People's Credit Fund; awarded the "For the cause of cooperative development" medal to 27 individuals who have made many contributions to the cause of building and developing cooperatives. The Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Cooperative Alliance awarded certificates of merit to 31 collectives and 26 individuals who have made outstanding achievements in the production and business activities of cooperatives, contributing to the development of collective economy and cooperatives in Quang Nam province in the period of 2020 - 2025.
