Kien Giang province's socio-economic situation continues to improve

(PLVN) - On the afternoon of June 5, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province held a regular meeting in May to assess the socio-economic development situation and set out directions and tasks for the following months of the year.

According to the report at the Conference, in May and the first 5 months of 2025, the socio -economic situation of Kien Giang province continued to develop positively; Many economic indicators grew strongly compared to the same period last year, notably in the fields of industrial production, trade and tourism services. Production activities, supply and demand of goods took place stably, well meeting the consumption needs of the people; Disease prevention and control work on livestock and poultry was effectively controlled.

In addition, the cultural and social fields continue to receive attention. The administrative reform index and public administration efficiency of the province in 2024 have improved, with scores and rankings increasing compared to 2023. National defense, security, and social order and safety are ensured.

The province also stepped up propaganda, inspection and handling of violations in illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Inspection activities were organized regularly and resolutely, and violations were strictly handled. In May, no fishing vessels of the province violated foreign waters.

It is forecasted that in June, the production and socio-economic development situation in Kien Giang province will continue to face many difficulties due to the rainy season, and some sectors will grow slowly. In addition, localities and departments need to focus on many important tasks such as summarizing the first 6 months of the year, preparing content to submit to the Provincial People's Council and reorganizing the administrative apparatus according to the new policy.
