Timely reward for gas station employee who saved two people in car fire

Along with Mr. Dang, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung, a colleague at Gas Station No. 5, belonging to Thua Thien Hue Petroleum Company, was also commended by the company for his act of helping people in traffic accidents.

As reported by Thua Thien Hue Electronic Newspaper, on June 6, a small car with license plate 75A - 235.79 and two young men (driver's name unknown) were driving on National Highway 1 (Ly Thai To Street, An Hoa Ward, Hue City) from North to South at high speed.

When the car reached the opposite side in front of Gas Station No. 5 (address No. 86, Ly Thai To Street, near Cong Chem), the car hit a series of trees, traffic lights, electric poles on the side of the road... and flipped over. The car only stopped after hitting the electric pole on the side of the road, causing a fierce fire.

At this time, Mr. Tran Minh Dang (born in 1970), an employee of Gas Station No. 5, was on duty and witnessed the serious accident, so he quickly approached the scene to rescue the victims.

When he saw two people trapped inside the car cabin, despite the danger of the fire, Mr. Dang crawled into the cabin from the back of the car, and rescued the two young men in the car before the car was burned down.

While Mr. Dang rescued two young men trapped in the car, Mr. Nguyen Viet Dung brought a mini fire extinguisher to put out the fire, called the fire police, rescue forces; and supported the accident victims...

Firefighters arrived at the scene and quickly put out the fire. However, the fire was so intense that the car was almost completely burned down.

It is known that since working at Thua Thien Hue Petroleum Company, Mr. Dang has helped people in distress many times, even risking his life to save people on the verge of death.

In 2001, while working as a gas delivery man, he saw someone drowning in the An Cuu River. Mr. Dang stopped his car, jumped into the river, and saved a woman in her 30s from death. With this achievement, Mr. Dang was awarded a certificate of merit for “Good people, good deeds” for the period 1999-2022 by the company where he worked.

Previously, in 1998 and 2012, when he was a gas station employee at two gas stations in Hue City, Mr. Dang also helped victims put out two motorbike fires after customers filled up with gas and left the store.

Talking about his noble deeds and actions, Mr. Dang said: "Those are normal things that I think anyone in this situation, witnessing that incident, would act like me."
